Of course, a lot of that probably goes for corruption and graft, but that is still a lot of money to spend with no positive results.
10 mowhat? South Korea is making your smart device possible... we won that. it was a huge loss, but we saved those Koreans which now produce some essential stuff. maybe others could. I'll have some Kim Che to that!
We won Panama... cmon man...
We won Gulf War... pretty much.
Iraq, um... not so sure, maybe?
Afghanistan... nobody can or wants to win that place wtihout a total wipe out. not possible. That's a game of whack a mole with the Islamic groups.
Winning... isn't like football... winner and loser is it?
A trillion, I wonder what that can buy anymore. It's one of the few ways we control the world, so there's no choice... and it's going up to 5 Trillion... so enjoy the "good ole days".

10 moFirst off. We don’t win wars because it’s not policy to win wars. Let our military do what military do and there isn’t any war (except maybe against China) that we couldn’t win.
When you are sent to a war zone and told not to shoot except for in self defense…. That’s not a war.
The truth is Americans don’t have the stomach for real war. That’s the citizens (not the military). So don’t confuse “we haven’t won a war” with we can’t win a war.03 Reply
Asker10 moah yes - the old "we don't win wars because we don't WANT to win wars" excuse. That would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.

You think Iraq has a better military than ours? You think Afghanistan does? You’re a fucking idiot.
Asker10 moI do think so. The Taliban and the opposing forces in Iraq won. That is the history.

10 moWe stay in war for exactly as long as it's beneficial to us and then we start some shit somewhere else. Watch what happens when we're done fucking with China through Venezuela. It's gonna be something else right after.
10 ReplyIt is positive results. We’re the only superpower. China and Russia are great powers. China is trying really hard to beat us and with democrats in charge they will. Russia has always been way overfeared since the start of the Cold War. Reality is they can’t even take Ukraine
00 ReplyQuestion:
Did you know that the United States spends a trillion dollars of taxpayer money on "defense" every year and yet has not won a war since World War II?GOOD! That means its doing its job: DETERRING WAR.
00 ReplyWE have not won a war since WW2 is true. Now we have a President who has the will to win. However is is sad that Elon Musk and DOGE tapped out before they had a chance to investigate the Pentagon. I am sure that heads would have rolled.

Anonymous(36-45)10 moi consider it a win to do what we've done. stopped major terrorist attacks on American soil since we bitch slapped everyone after 9/11, despite all the foreigners in the whole world bitching about how much "the USA sucks" while terrorists are over there gang raping their women and THEIR government defends it as cultural differences.
00 ReplyBy your standard we didn't even win WWII since we went home afterward.

Different wars have different war goals. For example The Korean War had war goals to stop the spread of communism in Korea, with the United States and its allies supporting South Korea against the communist North. Does South Korea exist today? Are they communist? Are they westernized? Do they manufacture goods for the USA? Clearly we won.

When it comes to the Gulf War, the war goal was to expel Iraqi forces from Kuwait because the oil of the entire region was important for a national security and the economy. The Middle East produces 1/3 of the world's oil and it would not be good for Saddam Hussein to go around taking all the countries and cutting off the oil from western markets. Does Kuwait still exist? Have Iraqi troops lead by Saddam Hussein been expelled? Does America have military bases in Kuwait today to keep an eye on the regional stability and keep the oil flowing? Sounds like we won.
Asker10 moWell, that we won at least nominally. The truth is the Russians won it, but we won it too, and I don't think that can be diminished.
Asker10 moHorseshit. The Iraqis were stealing Kuwaiti oil, or vice-versa, by slant drilling. We got involved in that in order to get military bases built in Kuwait. That's all this was about: that and oil. I don't call that any sort of one.
Asker10 mo"win"

Sorry to break it to you, but large scale wars only break out when an aggressor has control over energy. You can't wage a protracted ground war without the oil. That's why America keeps our thumb on the Middle East... As I stated they are 1/3 of the world's production. In WWI and WWII the Middle East was instantly attacked to gain the energy resources to fuel the war. Since WWII a third world war hasn't gone kinetic due to America keeping our thumb on the Middle East. China has been working to gain control over other energy resources like Venezuela and competing for OPEC resources, so obvious in order to prevent world war America has to put our thumb on Venezuela as well. If we don't control it to maintain stability, our adversaries will move in to fill the power vacuum and accelerate the march to world war.
Asker10 moYou aren't completely wrong about this. The U. S. was building military bases in that area in order to "keep their thumb on Iraq and Kuwait both."Too bad the U. S. lost the war.
Asker10 moAlong with all the other wars the supposedly superior US military has lost since 1945.

Meanwhile many nations in the Middle East are working with the USA via Trump towards friendly relationships with Israel (a psudo-vassal state of the USA) and creating a trade corridor in the region which will allow American corporations to shift manufacturing of plastics and textiles away from China toward Mediterranean trade routes bound for east coast ports in America. Everything happens in stages...
Asker10 moWe will see. Trump plays so dirty that I think he'll cross the Israelis, and that will be a big mistake if he does that.

What would be the point of negotiating a trade corridor that acts as a land bridge through the Middle East to ports in Hiafa, Israel, moving plastics and textile manufacturing to the region away from China to utilize Middle Eastern oil and cotton crops only to betray Israel where goods will be shipped from to America? Why would America spend countless resources and time to build up a region only to deny ourselves the spoils of our own creation?
That's why it spends a trillion dollars. it doesn't fight wars, it arms others for wars.

Asker10 moThere is some truth in that. Your arms industry that you pay for is most interested in making a profit by selling weapons not only to the US government but to other governments as well. The US may be the largest arms dealer in the world I think.
Anonymous(36-45)10 moNo, I didn’t know, and it doesn’t matter. The US does a lot to keep the world safe with a strong military and defense program.

10 moWhile Third World conditions exist in some areas. Small wonder former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a World War Two hero, called it the "wasteful military/industrial complex."
00 ReplyPretty sure USA won the first Gulf war and Panama. Thing is that occupations are hard especially as a Western democracy.

10 moI know that since WWII no major US city has been attacked or lost to an enemy. Even 9/11 was a small scale terrorist attack. So defense seems to proper word to describe efforts made be the millions who have sacrificed for our freedoms.
