Can anyone explain to me why the left wants open borders?

It’s a simple question. AOC, Nadler, Kamala, among other democrats, said it’s to make more babies, yet they promote abortion on demand! Tell me, WHY do they want open borders, to the point they are literally taking it to court! Lol

a. So that when the next census is done they can add congressional seats to blue areas as illegals get counted.

b. There's a theory that a lot of the illegals are male and they will be brought into the U. S. military. Those foreigners won't hesitate to violate U. S. laws as directed by the government.

c. To create problems. The more the country descends into violent crime (something encouraged by the left's lack of prosecuting violent crimes but love for prosecuting victims who defend themselves) it justifies the government "solving" the problem by passing more laws to control citizens & by raising taxes which limits the disposable income available to citizens and lessens the control they have over their lives. Re-distributing wealth is one of the goals of socialists and they can do it under the guise of "protecting you with your tax money".

d. Wealth redistribution. Tons of tax payer dollars goes towards giving free room, food, medical and educational benefits to illegals. This benefits them and the people providing the services (contracting companies, public schools, hotels). They have this same problem in England and I heard of a hotel that made $70 million in a single year just from housing illegals.

Might need a leftist for the answer but as someone who used to lean in that direction as a teenager, I think the problem when we lean left is that we want to be compassionate towards every single person on the planet and take care of everyone equally. At least that was my problem when I leaned left: I wanted world peace and thought like a hippie.

It can be genuinely motivated by empathy but it doesn't know how to prioritize, like prioritizing the well-being of our family before our community, community before state, state before country, country before the entire world. When we can't prioritize properly, we deplete our resources.

It doesn't understand that type of idea they encourage on airplanes for parents to put oxygen masks on themselves before they put it on their children even when our ultimate priority is the child's well-being.

You were just like me! I’m still like that. I’m not conservative but I have a brain and I know this is ridiculous. When the right says, “They want those votes”!, the left says, “They can’t vote! They’re here illegally”, I’m not that stupid! I worked H. R, 90% of the foreign workers had fake IDs and ssn’s. They were perfectly legal to vote but were actually voting illegally, and it is not recorded as voter fraud, even after it’s been proven.

I'm actually working towards a conservative these days but I favored consequentialist libertarianism (Milton Friedman style) as a transition which still favored open borders but only when the country lacks welfare. Then also legalize drugs: all of them, to start working towards eliminating the underground drug trafficking economy.

Yet something I think I neglected was the importance of some basic degree of cultural homogeneity. When the citizens of a nation can't even agree on at least the fundamental values of the nation, things seem to go awry very quickly. Diversity might be a strength but only when there's a strong sense of unity between the diverse range of people. Singapore is one of the best examples I've seen being the most diverse, multicultural little country, but all the citizens are united under a strong identity of being Singaporean: "S-I-N-G-APORE! Goooo Singapore!" and the values of the nation favoring maximum economic freedom.

So open borders started to seem like a completely insane idea to me.

I believe that they're not really for open borders, but since the right is against the invasion, the left must take the opposite side. They really are that stupid. NYC LOVED illegals, just as long as they stayed in the red states. Once they arrive in the blue cities/states, they hate the illegals.

I think it boils down to votes. The Left hope that they will gain new voters who will support their party. That's why they get pissed when POC vote red. They think all minorities are too stupid to see through leftist lies.

Yep, it is votes but the left lies about it! “They can’t vote! They’re here illegally” but like I told another opiner, they have fake id’s and ssn’s. They get them easily! And no one keeps track of those people, even after they’ve been proven to vote illegally! It’s still considered a legal vote!

Yes, if it was truly about a new life for economic reasons, then the left would be okay with Amnesty that says if you came illegally you can't be a US citizen for 25 years.
