Trump Calls Himself A 'Political Dissident' As He Predicts 'Judgment Day' For 'Liars'

Former President Donald Trump is increasingly casting himself as a martyr on the campaign trail as he finds himself facing more than 90 charges in various jurisdictions and court-imposed fines totaling more than $400 million, for misconduct that ranges from sexual assault to election meddling.

“I stand before you today not only as your past and hopefully future president, but as a proud political dissident,” Trump said Saturday onstage at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Washington.

“I am a dissident,” he repeated.

Earlier in the week, Trump made a bizarre comparison between himself and the recently deceased Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. Fielding a question on his New York civil fraud case and the massive fine currently threatening his real estate business empire, Trump called it “a form of Navalny.”

He managed to make the comparison without mention of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was widely accused of orchestrating Navalny’s death at age 47 — and to whom Trump has cozied up in the past.

It does not appear that Trump is including himself in the "liars" that he is predicting will face judgment day. Some key points:

- He refers to himself as a "political dissident" and positions himself in opposition to the "liars and cheaters and fraudsters and censors and imposters who have commandeered our government."

- By framing it this way, with himself as the outsider dissident fighting against the establishment "liars," he is implying that he is not one of the liars facing judgment.

- Despite the numerous accusations and lawsuits against him, Trump continues to cast doubt on the accusations and position himself as the victim of political persecution rather than acknowledge any wrongdoing.

- His rhetoric of "liars" facing judgment seems aimed at his perceived political enemies and opponents, not as a admission of any lies on his own part. He maintains portraying himself as honest and truthful.

So in summary, based on his self-portrayal in this speech, it does not appear that Trump considers himself among the "liars" who will face judgment day, as he asserts his own credibility while attacking others. He is not acknowledging the accusations against him.
