Not at all- the country was founded by human courage, bureaucratic incompetence, vast misunderstandings of the English temperament, and the huge distance between the proto-US and England.

God had nothing to do with it, and is indeed a major source of tyranny- only in excuses for it now, but very much realities in the past. Guts were as a much a factor for the English as the colonists; it always takes courage to fight. And guns are inanimate objects, totally neutral in and of themselves. Take them away from the soldiers, and the citizens won't need them.

Also, the second Amendment wasn't ratified until 1791, more than a decade after the country won its independence, so what exactly did it make us "free" from?

Yes, of course. America didn't become what it is because we were pussies like Canada and Britain. There is no way in hell that cops or military will come for our guns. That's for two reasons:

1. They don't want to die

2. They also own private guns

You mean like a Distant and effectively unaccountable Government that at best only pays lip-service to the limits of our consent to be governed?
A goverment that was created to have few and defined domestic powers now claims effectively unlimited power over everything. They even demand we submit to their edicts on the design of our homes.
