Why is Hitler admired more than Stalin?

If they were both scum. Why isn't Stalin more focused on compared to Hitler who has an aura of curiosity?

Because you live in a western influenced culture. I can assure you, Stalin is very much appreciated in other parts of the world IE Russia. The cold war and red scare went a long way to taint Stalins image for the western world while at the same time, ironically cleaning some of Hitlers.

After all, if Stalin and Communism is the enemy, who if not Hitler has done most to fight it directly?

Growing up in the America school system, Hitler was focused on so much more. Stalin barely got any attention.

Perhaps, but its not called "The red scare" for nothing. Your parents certainly knew about Stalin.

Yes, but that's post ww2. I mean specifically ww2, we learned so much more about the Nazis than we did the Soviets.

Well that is the defining event of the era, its importance is what shaped the modern world with USA becoming a super power. It makes sense that it is a focus of education, especially for Americans since that is what made you what you are today. Without WW2 you would not be a super power. That honor would probably either be the UK's or perhaps Germanys, depending on how history went.

UK was already on the decline and Hitler never had a chance to win. America was always the sleeping giant ww2 or not.

Yes and no. The problem is not that USA did not have the potential to become a super power, its just that you needed the chance first. WW2 remade USA on ever level, ranging from the very national identity, the industry, technology and everything else. Would USA have had the resources to invest without the war? Would you have united behind a singular identity and purpose? I do not think so.

I mean, if you just look at the numbers then Russia should have been playing history on easy mode, yet here we are with them struggling to even survive as a country. There is more to building a country, much less a super power than just having the potential.

The Cold War mostly, but I think Hitler and that whole period of Germany is a lot more interesting to people. Both of those reasons are probably why focus on it in school more than Russia (specifically Stalin)

It's that Hitler was in the west and Stalin was behind the iron curtain amid the soviets, they only entered the western public frame in 1989/1990 it'll take decades for everything to come out I should think
