Why are men not allowed to say they don't like certain things on women without being called "misogynistic"?

For example if a man was to say that they don't like tattoos on women then plenty of women would say that he is "misogynist'. But if a woman says that she doesn't like tattoos on men then not one person would call her a "misandrist". Why?

I have a whole theory but it essentially it comes down to society wants us to value all women equally. This is a noble goal, but, since a large part of how a woman is valued (right or wrong) is based on her looks it is seen as unfair to some. Since there is a lot a woman can do to improve her looks some women don’t mind this dynamic or simply don’t care, or…Perhaps they overcompensate in other ways. If, however, you are a woman who is too fat, lazy, or simply unwilling to improve your appearance (or maybe just are too unattractive to overcome it) then the whole idea that your worth is not in your absolute control, and being something you are unable to improve then it’s quite infuriating and maybe offensive.


Thanks to the body positivity movement we have to pretend there is beauty at any size and this is the polite line to repeat.


As men, if we claim we like something like a slim figure, athletic build, large bust, or whatever then it’s not seen as a positive for those women who may have those particular traits but rather as a swipe at those women who don’t. In my personal experience confident, self-aware, and attractive women couldn’t care less if they meet the criteria of some man be it tattoos, body type, hair color, or whatever. They have no shortage of options & opportunities in life and aren’t caught up on obtaining the approval of every man they meet. A woman who is less so, maybe even has a lot of self-doubts and insecurities, may find these standards offensive since they are reminders that she may not be as valued as a more attractive woman is.


So goes my theory anyhow. I may be entirely wrong.

You didn't even answer the question. If their opinion doesn't matter then why get so angry about them having one? Also like I said plenty of women don't like tattoos on men and men don't get butthurt just because certain women don't like tattoos.

Most men date women with tattoos. It was also my experience back when I was a model. Men made comments because I didn’t have tattoos. Some men might not like tattoos on women but have some themselves which is hypocritical, avoid those men. And other men just don’t like tattoos in general which is fine.

I don't take anything a woman says about a man serious. I've seen enough women say they will only date a rich guy who's taller than 6' show up with a guy whose 5'8 and unemployed. When I say that I'd only date fit women with no kids, I only date women who are fit and don't have kids.
