I always question how innocent civilians actually are. In WW1 Englishwomen handed out white feathers to men of military age in civilian clothing. In one case they gave a white feather to a Victoria Cross winner. They weren't so innocent. In WW2 they were womaning the factories making munitions. They weren't so innocent.

To be sure in a non democracy there is more coercion but even so if the civilian population is not supportive of a conflict it becomes harder to run one. If you are outwardly fighting to "protect civilians" it is harder to put civilians under duress to force compliance.

UNRWA has certainly been captured by Hamas and of course Hamas would seek to control the 13,000 employees of UNRWA in Gaza and use as much of the money as it can for Hamas purposes. It is quite credible that Hamas fighters are "humantarian aid workers". Many countries have stopped funding for this reason. Not so innocent.

In the one election Hamas won, they campaigned for war and a majority of Gazians voted for war. Not so innocent.

Of course Hamas has not faced an election since because it has sufficient support from civilians to not to have to. Not so innocent.

You have rebadged 30,000 casualties as being women and children when it is going to be 50/50 males and females approx. There does not seem to be any authoritative numbers. Plus estimates are around 40% were combatants. Certainly combatants are not so innocent.

Not that is more OK for males to die than females but it is showing you are uncritically buying into a narrative. Or creating one.

Sadly there is precious little innocence on either side but the casting of your question is particularly un-innocent.
