The insanity is slowly drifting here however some things are slowly changing back. As for single use plastics my city banned some of them & it didn’t work out well. Restaurants switched over to paper & wax straws & that was worse & unsafe for your drinks so that didn’t last long. Grocery stores went over to paper bags instead of plastic bags & when it rains those bags are useless so stores switched over to thicker reusable plastic bags & that didn’t last long as well. As for squatters my neighborhoods across the street sold the house to a company so they could rent it out & when the new renters went to see the house there were squatters in there. Surprise surprise an hour later three police cars showed up & the squatters were taken away in handcuffs.

What sort of paper bags dissolve in rain? The ones I use feel more sturdy than some of the plastic ones.

My local major grocery store charges you for the bags, now unless you bring your own. They still use brown paper bags but, if you've got anything wet in there, be careful!! I bought a gallon of milk a couple months ago and they put it into a paper bag. I went to the bus stop to wait for my bus home and was there about 20:00. When the bus finally showed up, I picked up the bag and nearly lost the entire gallon through the bottom of the bag because of the sweat from the bottle!!!
If I go to another branch of the same store, they still use the plastic bags that the other store outlawed last summer!!

Seen it all. Its why I moved away.. I've family in another liberal city its the same story. A neighbor of my brother went away on holiday for two weeks and squatters broke into his home and he couldn't get them out, nobody cared that he and his family had nowhere to go, he was still on the hook for all the utilities and when he tried to get the cops to put them out he got arrested.

In the end he had home insurance and the building "accidently" caught fire when a bong mysteriously set the home on fire when they were asleep.

He should've called up the utility people and had them all shut off. They should do a temporary shut-off like, if you're going away for a while.

Doesn't matter. He still has to pay the utilities while there are squatters in his property. Nothing to do with the utilities but the city. If the city was on the hook for the utilities of squatters, the squatters would be out in a week.

But, if he's got them shut off, the squatters can't use them! With no water, gas or electric, they won't stick around for too long.

Not in Florida. in Florida governor DeSantis made laws preventing squatters to move in your house. Other States should do the same thing.
