If women can join the police force, army, navy, military, etc why are they exempt from the draft?

I was told that it's because there's no way to know with certainty whether a woman is pregnant or nursing during the time that there would be a draft. They don't want to spend time sorting through an extra thing during an emergency maneuver. Women are able to VOLUNTEER and be drafted, but they won't get a letter in the mail.

Really? How do you volunteer for the draft? A friend of mine tried to sign up and as soon as she clicked female it just told her no and kicked her off the site.

Oh. That can’t be right. I have several friends who joined without a problem. Perhaps you friend had a health issue. (If so, don’t share. It’s none of my business. I wanted to enlist and I couldn’t because of a health issue I didn’t think was a big deal.)

No need to be pendantic- Selective Service is a list of people who could be drafted should one be enacted. It's a relic of the past.
