I think it's a setup. Iran, Russia, China and North Korea are becoming allies, if they aren't already, and none of them like the U. S. or NATO. Israel is closest target that can almost guarantee a U. S. response into Iran and, potentially result in a NATO response. If I were a conspiracy theorist I would say they are, ultimately, trying to get the U. S. to make a mistake that would trigger a war allowing them (all four) to move against Europe - and blame the U. S. for it. I wouldn't mind being wrong about this.

As a mere technicality or maybe more than that: It was not the embassy itself that was struck. It was a consular part of the whole diplomatic complex. And, yes, it was Israel as revenge for current Hezbollah militant activities, it's an open secret.

I think Israel probably did attack the embassy. It seems like Israel will attack anybody and anything and will wantonly violate the rules of warfare and diplomacy anytime it feels like it. So far. They seem to be doing this with no consequences unfortunately.
