I would say there are many skills that are essential to survival that people have but only a fraction of them are rewarded by social society, such as the ability to do STEM work. Unpaid skills like high pain tolerance, high odour tolerance, high empathy tolerance, high stress tolerance, high personality tolerance, high temperature tolerance, are not seen as employable skills but they matter to the human race just as the ability to do calculus or computer programming.

Many are as dumb as a bag of hammers and have the self-awareness of a rock. They don't read, they don't travel, but they don't interact socially, they don't attend cultural events, They don't go to museums, they don't patronize libraries, they don't go to galleries or the theater. In the USA America, the only well-roundedness is their waist size and their talent is sampling everything at the buffet three times.
