It depends on what - I think if heroes were real now, they would probably be under government jurisdiction so they'd probably be corrupt
BUT in an idealistic world aka in the MCU, most of the heroes could be trusted much more than all the governments - take the Avengers and the whole divide in Civil War over the Accords, whilst Iron Man was right in wanting accountability, he did it out of his own guilt and I know exactly why Cap didn't support the Accords since Hydra were literally revealed to have infiltrated the US government since the 1940s - plus we get moments throughout of corruption in the government, during New York, they were ready to send a nuclear bomb into the city despite there being literal millions left inside, Ross had a super secret bunker/prison, and even AFTER Hydra, they're all still corrupt and evil lol

If we could ACTUALLY have incorruptible and moral people, which is pretty fucking hard, who would ONLY go for actual criminals, then they should have the freedom to do so but this is the vigilantism vs police argument too

If I lived in Gotham, I would definitely feel safer knowing Batman was around watching, same as in Hell's Kitchen with Daredevil, and they had virtually no government control

There are people like that out there. People are just narcissistic and don't want to think there are others better than themselves out there and just assume they are easily corrupted like any other human

i think it's very hard to trust people and i don't blame them, there are people who do murder rapists or murderers and i can support that, but at the same time, it's scary to know you could be a victim to someone like that one day when you hadn't done anything wrong - it's just very hard to believe that anyone is incorruptible because i think in this day and age, when you have someone or something you love, it's easy to be screwed over
