We all recognize those who are willing to do what often requires one to step outside their comfort zone, to act fast, those enduring personal hardships or making sacrifices for the greater good as heroes. Especially those rescuing others in life-threatening situations, those providing medical assistance during emergencies, or caring for the elderly. Those who are defending human rights and liberties, those promoting education, health, and wellbeing in underserved communities, those who kill pedophiles, as heroes. But many of us also see our own parents as heroes, or friends and family who haven't gotten famous for any acts of bravery, but are nonetheless courageous and inspiring in their own ways. So, can everyday people who display acts of bravery, courage, and selflessness in their own lives be considered homemade heroes? Do you call them "heroic"?

A "hero" is a meatball sandwich.
As USMC Major Greg Boyington, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, famously said, "name any hero, and I'll prove he was a bum".
