Do you like EARLY VOTING?

Here in the US, it's Spring Primary time, where voters in several states vote to determine who the party candidates will be in the election in November, which includes voting for the President, Senators, Congress representatives, state and local offices.

Many people participate in Early Voting where they can vote, starting about two weeks before the actual Primary Day. There is also Early Voting for the November election, and that Early Voting starts in October.

I personally prefer to vote on Primary and Election Day, when all the information about candidates is known. Often, information comes out late about one or more candidates, and if a person has already voted, they cannot change their vote. That's why i prefer to wait.

Is there Early Voting where you are? Do you vote early or wait until the actual voting day?

The US Constitution and various federal and state laws give citizens the right to vote, but nowhere does it say that voting has to be easy.

I don't know if we have early voting or not. But I'm totally against it except in certain cases like absentee ballots with legitimate excuses.

As for the primaries specifically, they are private elections, which puts them under a completely different set of rules. It also means that it should not be paid for by tax payers. Nor should it be thrown in with actual governmental polls.

If the parties want to have an election to pick a candidate, that's up to them. They can set it up and pay for it. But it should not be confused with governmental elections.

People have NO RIGHT to vote in primaries. Nor do they have the right to vote in the presidential general election. The primaries can be run how they want. And the states can select their electors any way they want.

Are the parties private? Yes. By private, I mean they are not any kind of government agency. The DNC for example is a non-profit corporation.

Do people have a right to vote in primaries? Nope. Primaries are not even necessary. Iowa still has caucuses, which are done differently for Democrats and Republicans. When I first started voting, several states still had caucuses. I think Iowa is the only one left.

Can states select their electors any way they want? Yes. They don't have to allow people to vote for president. There is nothing in the Constitution about HOW states select their electors, other than the state itself will decide.

We'd be better off if the states stopped allowing people to vote for president.

We should go back to paper ballots on election day. No early or late voting, no unsolicited mail in ballots and people need to show an approved ID to vote. That will restore faith in our elections.

Actually it does work that way and quite often. You would know this if you had something more than a superficial of you of how voting actually works. And more importantly, how counting votes and tabulating them actually works. It is not unusual to see spikes and dips in vote counts as votes are in the process of being counted.

Yes, there's early vote where I live. Last March I voted for the first (and probably the last where I live) time. I voted early because I already had made my choice. I prefer that way because less people show up.

I don't usually vote early unless I'm not going to be able to vote on election day for some reason, mostly because its extra work to request a mail-in ballot, but I am a firm believer in making voting accessible to everyone, and mail-in and early voting expands access to the polls to more of the electorate.

Like the superbowl one minute one team has it & last minute the other team scores a touchdown & it’s a game changer. As for newspapers back in the day they would send a story to print & I’m sure a lot of headlines were wrong. Dewey Defeats Truman, some on at the paper probably got fired for that one.

I always vote at the polls but voting before should be allowed so older and disabled people can vote by the post. Not all polling stations are accessible in our country, because any place can serve as a polling station here in the UK, such as someones home and even car boot.

Absentee ballots have been around for a long time. However, they have to be sent away for. During Covid ballots were just mailed out to everyone that ever collected welfare, or was paroled from prison or had some other transaction with the government. There was no way to verify exactly who filled out the ballot and there is no way to keep people from intercepting the ballot and voting fraudulently.

There have been absentee ballots for years. They have to be applied for in advance. The democrats used covid as an excuse to have unsolicited mail in ballots. They flooded specific neighborhoods with ballots and anyone on welfare or released from prison got one. It did not matter if they were citizens or not. Once the ballot was in the mailbox there was no way to tell if it was valid or not. In all the chaos they stole an election.

Yeah early voting is nice you can go in and it's not a long wait. I also request a paper in pin ballot everybody should screw those damn machines that's how they cheat. They're so easy to manipulate

There has never been any significant election fraud in an American presidential election as yet. The real reason why you don't want mail-in voting or early voting is because like most Republicans you believe that your candidates will lose if these things are implemented. The truth is that without the tricks that the Republican party deploys in order to affect elections, most Republican candidates would lose anyway. People that think about it are generally not in favor of the radical policy positions of the Republican party that are designed to enrich a few people and render everybody else poor.

I voted in a local election today. I took time out of my busy Saturday , drove to the high school and cast my ballot. I took me maybe 30 minutes.
