Children aren’t developed enough to make decisions on their own they can’t vote, have sex, get a tattoo, or many other things. Don’t get me wrong children can be smarter then we give them credit for.

But children at that age just haven’t matured enough. Children tend to absorb their surroundings and that’s what they know.

I agree MOST OF THE TIME THEY SHOULDN'T , NOT can't decide but devils advocate:
PREMISE: Either a minor CAN consent or they CANNOT consent REGARDLESS of the health benefits of the procedure under discussion because the issue is having the full faculties to make a life altering decision. Presuming the premise is correct I submit:
Circumcision, braces, cosmetic surgery, tattoos, cochlear implants, gene therapy, insulin pump, Lasik surgery, birth defects, etc.
Who is to say the minor wants/doesn't want these things and that parents are the arbiters?

  Children cannot consent to getting tattoos or having sex with adults. They most certainly cannot consent to being sterilized, mutilated and made to not ever be able to feel sexual pleasure properly again.

Here’s why this is stupid: gender disphoria usually pops up around puberty. And then the process for teens to get just hormone pills- cuz that’s all they can get- is immense and private with their doctor or parent.
My use this to learn to butt out of doctor patient parent confidence.

  Well the problem is mutilating and sterilizing a child is not helpful nor is it medical treatment. Puberty blockers are partially comprised of the same chemicals used to chemically castrate sex offenders. Puberty blockers also cause male patients to develop a micropenis and have lower bone density.

  Of course they can’t consent to sex and again of course the can’t consent to surgery but I had open heart surgery when I was nine not by choice I had no choice as I would’ve died
