Ukraine has really shook up the battlefield with simple drones. Should NATO scrap the tanks and go for drones?
I mean I see case after case even Abrains tanks being taken out of the battlefield and taken to the scrap yard.
It is time for NATO to rethink the current battlefield. Yes or No what do you think?

There's how we think the next war will be fought and how it will be fought.
Drones for instance can be jammed. USAF predator drones operating in Afghanistan and iraq were controlled from an airbase in california, all a potential enemy with modern equipment and technology would have to do is shoot down us satellites and the drone would be unmanned. Most drones I believe can be countered and jammed.
Currently the Russian airforce is MIA over Ukraine, why? Because modern ground to air SAMs make flying over enemy territory in a non-stealth a death sentence so Russian aircraft patrol and lob missiles from outside Ukraine. The US learned and examined these lessons from air combat in Vietnam and the air and tank battles of the Yom kippur war and developed the doctrine that stealth aircraft would go in and take out enemy radar, SAM batteries and aircraft on the ground and then non stealth fighter bombers would attack enemy targets in support of armoured tank thrusts. This was exactly what was done in the first gulf war, in desert storm the armored thrust didn't attack Iraqi fixed defensive postions in Kuwait but swung around through the desert to attack in the rear.
The Tank is not obsolete. What is a tank but an armoured all terrain mobile artillery platform. When the german's were using blitzkrieg in WW2 their tanks weren't superior to the French and British but how they used them was, they didn't attack the fortified Maginot line in wave after wave of armoured attacks to get knocked out, instead they went around and flanked the French and British attacking them in the rear with infantry and airpower in support.
Modern upgrades to tanks, the next generation will make us tanks that more effective. Many people believe tanks are outdated because of the Ukraine war but if you look at how they are being used you see that for instance the Ukrainian tanks are attacking fortified Russian postions without air support and little artillery support against with well sighted antitank and artillery zones. It's suicide.
No it’s mainly as tanks are not being used effectively, lack of depth and support. Yes there is a huge rethink required, however a lot of attacks have been through open hatches on the front edge of the battle area, which is fairly much to be avoided.
Large carry drones are the big problem as they can carry sufficient explosive energy to take out or disable a modern tank. The big problem is still anti tank weapons, these give any tank a bad day even when buttoned up,
The anti drone side of things will appear in next couple years, weapons such as Dragon fire will be very common and weapons platforms will carry them in support of tanks and other AFV.
Looks to me tanks stay away from tree line
The turtle tanks were when destroyed by drones
Turtle tanks?
it is never that simple...
tanks are not that effective in the sea, so you just don't bring it to the oceans
the will be more or less effective in some areas and some situations but not for other, that's the same for drones and everything else
generally speaking, the more options available the better
