Why is everything now on a "spectrum", except "race"?

This is what a spectrum REALLY looks like.

For example, the classification of Asperger's Syndrome is no longer used, it having been replaced by the "spectrum" that apparently is autism (I don't agree with this, by the way). Sexuality is now seen as "being on a spectrum", but I don't know how that works. Gender apparently too, which is a real mystery as well. However... not "race" for some mysterious reason, even though there are many people who are mixed-race. Why is that? That's kind of suspicious, don't you think, not to mention inconsistent. Everyone is now lumped into the following, highly illogical, categories: White, Black, "Asian", Indigenous.

Spectrums are the “materialization” of the layman’s “two way street.” Saying.

It’s the scientific method to the broader understanding of this whole ‘line of info.’

There’s always observable and documented extremities as well as opposites and all the in between.

It can be written in any other way such as some graph or chart, but the spectrum is probably one of the easiest to comprehend and read by researchers and citizens. It gives an Idea and helps teach people to subtly compare and contrast in order to understand different parts of the spectrum.

Just as the small scale spectrum at a doctor’s office- where it’s (I forget) , either 0-10 or 1-10. Maybe even 1-9, but anyhow it shows different faces from happy to calm to painful agony. This helps patients and young patients to recognize and rate how well or unwell they’re feeling. They compare and contrast and come to an aided conclusion/decision.

That just goes to show you just how simple it is to read and understand spectrums. Even a child could do it.

To answer now about race- (I hope you’re not racist and perhaps just curious), but it’d have a lot to do with everyone being equal and just different colors and percentages of things. See it this way- no one puts dog breeds on a “spectrum.”

There’s no one further advanced than the other or any less than, nor any of them varying in degrees of any matter. Spectrums usually measure things, and there is not extremity or measure amongst humans and their races. It’s only how much or little of a thing they are within. Like measuring a cup of water or so. Maybe seeing how much gas is in a room or so. It’s all percentages/ percentage amounts. Nothing of value, measures, or extremities. That would be odd.

Spectrums make things easier to classify but humans and their races don’t need classifications. Especially since the combinations are numerous. It’s a probability matter at that point. Ratios and such. 1% this and 2% that. And it can go on and on. So no need for a spectrum. Unless it was somehow kept very vague and generic. Mixed and unmixed. But what would anyone need with that info? Unless it was some medical research related to heredity and other diseases/viruses/sicknesses/ ailments.

Racist need clear lines to know exaclty which race they hate.

Everyone else don't care at all.

Autism is using the broader "autism spectrum" as autism is super complex and everyone shows different behaviours and the only way to still bundle them up is by using the broad spectrum.

Gender is a social construct and if you try to define and put people into these categories the more you see how different people and individual they are, so again you can only fit them all on a complex spectrum.

And so on and so forth...

The world isn't black and white or with some greys in between, the world is red, yellow, blue, green, purple, ... and all the millions of colours in between.

I am Neurodivergent; we are about 20% of the population. Some of us are severely autistic, ranging to people you could not visibly detect, as we mask our neurodivergence from Neurotypicals, like you (80% of the world population). Almost certainly, you know someone who is neurodivergent, like me. We are EVERYWHERE, but only notice the "obvious" ones!

Okay, well, first of all it isn't 20% of the population who have a condition like autism, but more like 10%. Secondly, there is no reason to believe that most people who have such conditions "mask" them, and try to pretend to be normal, although of course many no doubt do for reasons known only to them. And finally, no, I am not "neurotypical". Unfortunately I've been cursed with Asperger's Syndrome, and I wish there were a cure, or at least a treatment for it.

You'll have to ask the police, money lenders, judges, and hiring managers how they decide someone is black before discriminating against them. Get them on board with this "race doesn't exist" thing and all will be fixed.

Well, for starters, there are clear differences between autism and Asperger's Syndrome, one of the clear differences being the developmental delays that people with Asperger's don't experience when they're very young, in contrast to those who have autism. I am of course referring primarily to speech and the use of language, which is far more advanced for any given child with AS even compared to those who are normal.
Someone above mentioned that the term 'Asperger' was dropped simply because Hans Asperger was a Nazi. Well, that's a really stupid reason if true, because his being a Nazi was (and is) completely irrelevant to the work he did and the discoveries he made, any one of which could have been falsified if his being a Nazi compelled him to come to wrong conclusions because he went down the wrong path in his research.
