What will you do with your life if you can live over 500 years because of future medical advancements?
I saw this video today about the subject and thought I would share.
At my age, it would take more than just stopping aging. I would need to turn back the clock. I mean, I'm OK with my current body and mind, but it's certainly not ideal
I've been saying for many years that I think they will "cure" the aging process. But I meant in the lifetime of young people today. It's unlikely in my lifetime.
I would have to rethink everything. I've been retired for quite a while now. Young people don't know how easy it is to lose momentum as you get older. It's not easy to think about going back to the grind. It's not easy thinking about what amounts to starting over, after you think you're done.
If I can't turn back the clock, rather than just stop the aging, I don't know if I can do it. It's too hard to start over from scratch, which is what it would take. Maybe if I was suddenly young again I might feel very differently. But as-is, I don't know if I have it in me.
I would have to work again to support myself. I don't currently have a good way to do that. It's been too long since I've worked and nobody would hire me.
Hmmm, I've been volunteer teaching English (ESL) very part time for a few years. It would be cool to go overseas to teach English. That's the first thing that comes to mind. I might already be able to do it, since I have some connections and a little experience. It doesn't pay much, but it would be cool, and at least pay enough to pay the bills. In 500 years I could live in a whole lot of countries teaching English.
Another option might be my first college major, which was forestry. It didn't work out the first time around, but in hindsight I always thought it was a good career for me.
I would go back to the College of Engineering at AU and get a mechanical and electrical engineering degree (assuming I could pass the curriculum)
Then on to Medical School, and be qualified in Neurological procedures and hopefully do brain surgery, and specialize in Cancerous Brain Tumors. (Assuming I could pass the curriculum)
Then move on in flight school and get a commercial Pilots license with a high performance rating - and get prepared to be able to fly an F-18 Fighter Bomber, then get qualified with NASA a hopefully be qualified to fly the first mission to Mars with Elon Musk funding the project.
After Mars perhaps Aerospace technology will progress to the point that we can fly at near-light-speed, or at light speed and fly to the outer planets. Damn what a life that would be, Huh ?
I'd rather die if my body ages to that of a frail old fart when I exceed 60.
If my body can resist aging, I'll have a very long life to think of significant things to accomplish.
I'd spend my life helping others if I lived 500 years. Vacations would get boring after 30 years.

But honestly, I think I would like some extra years to accomplish the things that I want in my life. Maybe just 100 years because I feel like I'm not even close to accomplishing what I want. There are a few things I'd like to have done before passing away. I'd like to write a book or maybe a few books, have a family of my own, and build my own house. I think if I've accomplished all of that I can die peacefully. I would have left my legacy behind.
I could slowly move to every country I have ever wanted to live in :D
I would have a nice long retirement but would probably have a couple of more careers.
It all depends on quality of life. If the quality ain't there I'm also a big supporter of voluntarily euthanasia.
I'd be a historian, write some books, make videos and appear on talk shows, covering how things have changed over the years.
I'd probably keep working to improve things, in my own small way.
I'd take it easy and chill...
Solve the Collatz Conjecture.
The same thing, just 500 years. Longer.
Going to the NFL
