Should Democrats be held to account for failing to care for the needs of a person?

Jordan Neely was a NYC person failing to make a living off dancing and suffering mental challenges from personal issues after his mother was killed by her boyfriend.

This upcoming trial is about one man (there was actually 3) that held down Jordan Neely in a choke hold until he died. JN was complaining "I want food", "I'm thirsty"..."Won't take no for an answer"..."ready to go to jail"... My issue is not with those that held him down... but the many people on the train that ignored his pleas. These are the same people that say we should care for others...why do they ignore others in need then? He should have had 10 people offering him food, water, and help.

We know this is a train filled with "blue state" people... liberals, that believe in "mental health" and caring for the needs of the poor. So why don't they then?

He was expressing distress for not having food. If I was there, I'd offer him food and water. I've done that before... it really isn't hard.

What is wrong with Democrats and liberals... why are they so cold hearted?

I'm not saying Republicans/Independents get slack either... but where are all these "blue state" people when someone cries for help?

Of course not. The Democratic model is to set up systems for this sort of thing. It is trash republicans who keep thwarting it because they want to give that money to the rich

seems that's not what happened on the train. A train filled with people... mostly liberal/Democrat voters. They ignored him as they often do. what's he supposed to do to get food/water... guidance? He'd be much better off with someone who cared. Democrats don't seem to.
They have social services... if you can figure out the system.

Of course they do. Setting up municipal or state policy like that only invites people from out of state to take advantage. It has to be done at the federal level to have any chance of real success, and republicans control the house and scotus.

But anyway, positive changes to a democracy necissarily happen slowly so that everyone can have a hand on the levers of power. It is only destruction to democracy that can happen swiftly - fascism is the natural state, after all. To climb out of it is to work against our own nature. A daunting task but not an impossible one. Falling is easy, climbing is hard, but, I contend, worth it.

The point is systems like what I describe would have had to have been put in place decades ago to start paying off now. And indeed any such systems put into place now would not really pay off for decades. NYC has not had exclusive forward thinking democratic control for all of the last several decades.

I see your point. Maybe in some ideal scenario. But dems control nyc… this kid lived there. They have systems more than anywhere in usa. I dont trust govt to be competent to handle such challenges.. not alone. Need people w hearts that care… not for job but for love if what they do… and as many as possible trained that way. That to me works. But they dont train people that way in the city… they train them to ignore.

Democrats did not fail this guy but hey hve failed the person that held him down so he could not assault any of the other passengers. From what I understand he is being charged with murder. He is a white ex-marine and Jordan Neely was a black man suffering from mental illness. The democrat legal system will put this guy behind bars.

agree and that's my point. 20+ walked off the train and ignored the plight of the man.. no help at all... they leave the "job" to some social service, that doesn't exist nor can help him. the one that tried to control him to stop the issue... and went too far... they will send to jail.
The strategy in the city is to ignore others and pay govt workers to deal with others. That doesn't work... humans don't want or need govt, they need support and community.

The real crime is that nuts like Neely are not locked up. Every time you have a mass shoting it is always a nut job thay is known to police and everyone says it was not a question of will this guy go out and mow down a classroom full of third graders with an AK-47 but WHEN.
