Why do some Americans trash Obama Care when it helps many Americans who need it?

I saw my co-worker today for the 1st time in 10 months and he told me he was in the hospital for over 1 month due to a serious foot infection and the hospital bill came out to be $137,000 but he only had to pay a $2,000 deductible and his insurance through Obama care paid the rest. Dude is super lucky.

I don’t think most people who don’t like it really know what it is. At this point, everything is a political football and you can’t take criticisms at face value anymore.

Like there are people out there who think Joe Biden is the worst president of all time, and that’s simply not factual, yet there’s now a right wing propaganda arm of the news who exist solely to try to convince us that every move Biden has ever made in office was the worst one possible. And it gets said enough, and enough people are dumb enough to believe that if someone says it on TV then it must be true, that it starts to become the narrative, primarily because people WANT IT TO BE. And there will always be problems in life, so there will always be something to blame the government or a politician about. And the polarized nature of our politics lends itself to illusion, because one side is doing what they believe is right, and the other side opposes it because they believe it’s wrong. So we can no longer even really trust our own perceptions of what’s going on, and that’s pretty crazy. One person will tell you it’s sunny while the other says it’s pouring rain. And the truth is that it’s probably overcast, haha, but everyone believes what they think is the reality.

Also, you have these “no such thing as a free lunch” types out there whose absolute nightmare seems to be their tax dollars benefitting strangers, and that’s really just an issue of poor character more than anything else, this “me first” attitude. I’m kinda like “you either want to be part of a society or you don’t.” Some of these folks want their cake and to eat it too, where they reap all the benefits of a wealthy society but don’t have to put much into it or worry about society on a collective level. These people want individualism but residing within the comforts brought by collectivism.

But I do agree that Trump got the Day One dragging treatment. I feel it was fairly well-deserved in a lot of cases, in my opinion, but it’s absolutely fair to say that very few people on the left gave Trump a fair shot once he took office, they trashed him the whole time and got carried away with finding examples to be like “SEE? We TOLD you he’d be out of pocket!”.

I dislike what happened to "health care"... e. g. disease care, well before obama care. HC was used to ensure inflation and manage the economy to "grow". Ditto for education. It's a huge business and terribly wasteful. People see that now... how medical is not affordable and education is no longer economical. Unfortunately, when there is lots of $ and 10% growth every year in costs, there is waste and corruption. Don't even ask me about people dying in hospitals unnecessarily and it's being covered up and I'd bet you don't know cause it ain't in the news. Anything the govt touches gets expensive. So...

Enter obama care. My insurance went up up up. I was required to pay for it when in so many cases, I can't use it and it was a waste. Now it's hard to find a doctor... I know doctors that left. Add to it, the system is corrupted by money... if you don't believe me, listen to these highly educated people.

It isn't just obama care, it's a totally screwed up system that feeds junk, applys expensive "solutions" that are just band aids, is wasteful and not really for the patient. It needs exposed, cleansed, opened up and so competition can right set the best health policies.

But that will cause massive change and deflation and may make some procedures unavailable... and won't ever happen. So I don't know... maybe OC is wonderful.

In essence, we are a highly corrupt society which resulted from abuse of the printing press and not allowing the system to deflate so it could be cleansed. So we have this massive bubble noone wants to pop. That's why some people wait for long long time to get necessarily surgery, takes months to get appointments or sometimes can't find a dr that takes insurance.

When you do have to go to the doctor you only get maybe 10 minutes of his time before his next appointment so you feel rushed and can't discuss everything you want to.

My point being that no one in Congress goes to the same doctors we do. They get treated like royalty and don't have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment or only get 5 minutes with your doctor before he has to move on to the next patient. Only the best for them. 🙄

Because it increases the cost of healthcare for 99% of Americans, that's why. It made health insurance less affordable, and less efficient for all but a few. Obama lied. He promised more access and more affordable coverage for all. Instead what we got was more expensive health insurance, less efficient healthcare, crappier insurance, and less competition. I had good health insurance and actually paid extra for one of the so called Cadillac plans because my wife is a cancer survivor and we wanted the kind of insurance where you can go to any doctor and any hospital. The cost of the premium went up a lot and the coverage was not as good. Obamacare was supposed to make premiums 2700 dollars cheaper. It was realy just the opposite.

That's what happen to me with my broken ankle here's the thing I'm alaskan native who gets free healthcare that also payed for employer health insurance because I could afford it little bit helps in the long run of things.

I had a total hip replacement 3 years ago. It took me 2 weeks to get an appointment to see the surgeon, then another 2 weeks for the surgery i had several follow up visits and 6 weeks of PT.. All for a 20 dollar Co pay.

2/3 of sum total medical spending is already payed by the government majority of it just paper work with little actual help getting to the people. Like local governments hiring met life to deny coverage for profit ahit like that.

I teach in an urban college. It is a real blue collar place. Many students are the first in their family to attend college. I have a lot of veterans as students as well. The college has a lot of resources for students who are single parents, have disabilities and unique family situations. These people are breaking out of the cycle of poverty. In a lot of cases people create their own circumstances. I had to drop out of college twice because I ran out of money. It took me 12 years to graduate and I had a successful career in IT which paid well and included good health insurance. People often create their own problems and expect the government to be the solution for all their problems.

For every person who has been helped by Obama care there are hundreds that have seen their health insurance get more expensive and their co-pays going up. My co-pay for a cat scan went from 20 bucks to five hundred dollars.

True but it is not just the cat scan that has gotten more expensive. Premiums are more expensive and co pays for just about everything has gone up and not just a little bit. When I was getting PT afterr my hip replacement I only got 6 weeks. Before Obsmacare it was ten weeks.
