This guy admitted that Disney deliberately discriminates against white people in general and specifically white men. He has taken a leave of absence after this undercover report was published. This just shows that if enough people choose to collectively ignore the rules it doesn't matter what laws you have on the books. It is difficult to push back against this. And if you do push back you will be painted as white supremacist or actual white supremacists will want to join you because they're the most focused on issues like these. But there has to be a point where the law does something and steps in for actual equality. Will this be the moment, or how much longer will it take?
1 yProbably not. Historically, Disney never would've been sued for something like this; Walt himself made the legal system an important component of his company's toolset, and they ALWAYS had good lawyers. Typically, if someone sued them, they'd either come to a settlement (which would ALWAYS include an NDA) or drag things out so long their plaintiffs would run out of money. The US government COULD actually beat them at that game, and Disney's having serious money problems these day-- but an accusation, with no supporting evidence, from "this guy" (who I'm assuming is a Disney employee) isn't enough to base a serious lawsuit on. The best you'd get is an investigation, which probably won't last long enough to find anything, since the company will be playing its cards VEST close to its chest for some time after a major accusation.
What's worse for them is that this isn't an isolated incident. Ever seen this picture? The third woman from the left is Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, and a VERY highly ranked official at Disney. The slogan on those shirts- "the force is female" is a takeoff of the slogan "the future is female", which is from an essay by Sally Miller Gearheart, literally calling for gender-based genocide. Think of all the politicians and other public figures you've seen driven out of office, or at least the spotlight, for social offenses that are deemed bigoted today- things like appearing in blackface, or using slurs based on ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. Now reflect that NONE of those things actively call for the murder of the targeted groups. And has Kennedy at least apologized? Or offered some explanation that gives another meaning? Or at least possessed SOME level of self-awareness and pretended it never happened? No- she's made it the unofficial slogan of her tenure in charge of the company. And it's not a matter of "she makes us so much money that she's worth the blow to our image"; Lucasfilm STILL hasn't turned a profit for Disney- not just relative to their ongoing expenses, but from the initial cost of buying it from Lucas.
Now, if YOU were in charge of a company and had images depicting one of your high-level employees involved in some wrongdoing in the past, perhaps you wouldn't fire them; maybe you think a joke, even a tasteless and offensive one, should be left in the past if it happened in the past. There's certainly merit to that idea; goodness knows we've seen the opposite extreme taken often enough. But this isn't an insult, it's a death threat. To half the population of your potential customers.
That's the deeper problem, and what's worse for the population that isn't bigoted fuckheads: what they're doing probably isn't illegal. In United Steelworkers V Weber, the Supreme Court ruled that it's legally acceptable to discriminate against white men- IF you're doing so to "correct historical disadvantages". The relevant law, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1974, says:
"It shall be an unlawful employment practice for any employer, labor organization, or joint labor-management committee controlling apprenticeship or other training or retraining, including on-the-job training programs to discriminate against any individual because of his race, color, religion, sex, or national origin in admission to, or employment in, any program established to provide apprenticeship or other training."
The Court ruled that, because the discriminatory policies Weber was suing over were supposed to be temporary, they were acceptable. They claimed Weber was being "overly literal" in his interpretation of the law.

About 10 years ago now, social analysts figured out that there's a massive pool of non-white audiences that hasn't been tapped into in order to sell corporate products (Disney shows included)
So we've been seeing for a lot of years now this pandering campaign where these companies will bend over backwards to kiss the backsides of minorities in hopes to convert them into mindless consumers.
Only that ended up alienating a large chuck of the core consumer-base who felt cheated and discarded. And the new "target audience" never really embraced the products.
More and more we're seeing the pendulum starting to swing the other way.
Every "woke fest" is flopping one harder than the next.
And the few times someone bothers to make a movie or a show that's detached from all identity politics and is just some good old fashioned fun. It's a smash hit.
It's only a matter of time before some greedy exec signs the marching orders saying "no more pandering" so long as he can guarantee profit.14 Reply- 1 y
What's the answer? Only have movies pushed towards white people? Should minorities not have movies made to represent them or characters made to represent them? Should the overall opinions be "fuck non white people" Seems a bit racist to me. Or should they only be allowed one movie per year. Should there be rules placed on representation for minorities? Like 2 for them and 12 for white people? How does this get handled exactly?
In an empathetic way that isn't just "haha get fucked non white people" - 1 y
First of all, considering I'm a non-white person myself obviously that's not the idea behind my comment.
Second of all this attitude is precisely why we no longer have good shows or movies:
The notion that someone needs to "get fucked" be it white people or non white people.
When in fact long before identity politics got it's hold on cinema we had tons of amazing works of art with very diverse casts in terms of ethnicities and even genders.
But we conveniently pretend to forget about it now so we can continue a meaningless pissing contest between races that leads absolutely nowhere.
And when diversity checklists become the first foremost concern of a studio, the story suffers. Because now you know what to expect.
Based on a character's race or gender you can guess if they'll be a good or bad person and the tropes are all played out.

The public opinion and money matters more to the company, as it's going to lead into a loss of sales and gradual decline.
Rights are obvious on the hate train to Disney and now the Left has also had enough, the only people who support Disney now are parents and dumb people who don't pay much attention and far activist extremists who don't even exist in reality. Some old boomers I guess still give their money to star wars because idiots but everyone has a stopping point.
And if they keep writing and creating trash it's only going to lead into losses. It's only a matter of time before they change direction to try win back profits.
It's a self correcting issue.02 ReplyDisney should be completely shut down. It's last 13 productions removed from the public's excess and completely destroyed. Everyone fired and many up top,. charged with crimes against our humanity of society.. Even treasonous charges possible. Fire everyone.. Ideology of these people are effecting our countries youth as the parents are weaklings as there kids were mistakes. Without a single reason of only there wants. Sick mother f.. kers straight up.. What happen to ideology of sound reason? Disney created the very best of amazing story to life animated movies. As well as regular full action features. Stories that meant something to truths in morals of a human beings character. Now completely compromised and ill logical truths in reasoning of purposes. Just my opinion.. I'm no one

Anonymous(18-24)1 yWe all know Disney and all the rest of Hollywood and Silicon Valley and academia and everyplace else has been doing this full speed ahead for at least the past 10 years. Disney openly announced it would not accept any TV series or episodes from white writers. Now reverse that and imagine if they said they would not take any material from black writers?
Punishing the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of people who discriminated against black people is not the way to make things equal and fair, and what's going to happen in 100 years when white people are the slaves and there's a big movement to end slavery and make white people equal? The answer will be to punish blacks? It's Planet of the Apes.

Anyone who wants to do something about this obvious and very illegal discrimination will no doubt be harassed and targeted like Trump has been.

If you are into gaming, have you heard of extremehomearcades?
I just got a gamebox from them and it is awesome. It has thousands of games from the original NES days up through the PS1, N64, and Saturn, plus games from the arcades, light gun games, 1795 classic music videos from the 80s, and more. It is cool if it is within your budget. Mine was just under $4,000.
Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yI suspect until public opinion grows stronger and louder, perhaps backed by a change in government, then not much will change.
In terms of Disney, their CEO is due to step down in the next couple of years, I believe, although now peltz has given up, it's not clear what will change until they've run out of money.
