It was plausible if we couldn’t get Germany to stop the war however thanks to the advancement of our brave troops overseas along with Soviet forces pushing on the other side to shut down the Nazi Regime we didn’t need to drop the Atomic Bomb.

Japan was very ruthless, wouldn’t stop at nothing until they were the last ones standing, and would fight to the bitter end even at the cost of innocent human life…. You have to realize that the Japanese propaganda machine led to one instance of American soldiers stopping at this region in the Pacific and the civilians at the sight of American soldiers jumped to their deaths instead of dealing with the Americans… The propaganda told them that Americans were cannibals so, the civilians believed and jumped instead of facing them.

Remember Hiroshima? Japan’s government didn’t surrender even after seeing their city get obliterated and innocent human life taken away. Nagasaki was the second bomb drop which led to Japan’s ultimate surrender.

IF America was getting their ass handed to them over at the beaches of Normandy or something then maybe we would’ve dropped a bomb in Europe.

You left out the historial context and why the bombs were dropped in the first place. It isn’t about white or black or Asian or hispanic or whatever since I believe we are ONE race the human race and we are ONE from flesh & blood. I go by the history books, historical context, etc.
I want to make ubundently clear YES we had Japanese internment camps out West however we had smaller German internment camps out East. You can’t ignore the historical context, in a world where Nazi Regime did Pearl Harbor and was ruthless / very successful while Japan wasn’t involved at all… We would see two Atomic bombs dropped on Berlin & other place 100%

Not even sure why this is a question due to how 1944 was for the Germans. During WW2, the Germans lost 80% of their forces on the Eastern front, that other 20% loss is over the other theatres (France, N Africa, Italy etc).

The Russians were killing Germans faster than the Germans could replace them, it was a war of attrition and the Germans were losing.

If DDay had of failed, then likely a much larger portion of Europe would be under soviet control, that iron curtain would have stretched further west.

Also 1000 bomber raids would have likely increased their intensity. The US fire bombing Raid of Tokyo (Operation meeting house 9 March) killed more people than Nagasaki atomic bomb did

Indeed you are correct @rebelinsteel. In no way is it true that "Germany still got off lighter than Japan." The number of German dead was well over twice the number of Japanese killed and Germany started out with a slightly smaller population than Japan. So either way you want to count it (total killed or percentage of population killed) the Germans got a more severe shellacking.

I don’t remember that…. there was the Morgenthsu plan from FDR’s cabinet. They were sick of German wars and planned to take them back to the Stone Age postwar. But luckily General Marshal interceded. And we have the Germany of today leading the EU.
