I don't necessarily hate "them", but I hate how stupid they can be because they ignore facts, information and what's right in front of their faces.

I live in the USA and once upon a time, you could co-exist with differing political viewpoints, but that time has passed. The USA is on the verge of becoming a fascist, authoritarian state where even the "illusion" of freedoms will be gone. This will happen if the pawn Trump gets elected and the GOP gain control of Congress. The GOP has already fucked up about 18 states and they plan, via Project 2025, to inflict their dystopian world on the entire country.

People who support this are indeed themselves hateful, though they call themselves Christians more often than not. They hate Biden and the Dems, which is fine, they're not my favorites either; they're corrupt too. But, they're better than living in Gilead or some Orwellian world.

Actually, I really "dislike" people who think they know me and then tell me who I hate or do not hate. I’m not sure about hatred, more like dislike and not wanting to associate with them is fine. I generally don’t associate with anyone that has extreme views (whether it’s left, right or somewhere in space) especially if that’s their personality. There are a few exceptions to that but I just don’t talk politics with them, at all. We want the same things/have similar morals (for enough things) but the way we go about it is extremely different

I think having similar views is definitely important if you want any kind of relationship with someone, whether that's family, friend, or potential lover.

And yes... you can hate someone for their views. I can't date someone that's part of the lgbt movement that's being shoved in everyone's face nowadays. I also hate people that have immoral views.

It's okay to have differing views on smaller subjects, but when it comes to ones that conflict with your core values, you likely won't have much compatibility with that person.

You gave me a hard one here lol. On paper I am a Democrat but really no longer political and I don't even vote, and I know that many Republicans hate Democrats. I have Republican co-workers, friends, associations, etc. whose views I don't agree with but I still like them as people.

The Republicans I have to honestly say I seriously detest are the evangelical ones. Christians have no business being so political. God doesn't care about guns, nor is America favored by God for all the earthly reasons Republican evangelicals believe. Probably, but let's be real, there are a lot of people who really think a lot of incredibly dumb and counter productive shit. I think it's wrong, I may dislike their political views, but I wouldn't hate the person for for standing up for who and what they think is right or believe in. Other than their political views, they could be a decent person.

An outside passive observer (most of us) I think it's important to understand their perspective. I am always happy to actually talk through things and try to do so amicably to avoid ad hominems. It's hard but it is what it is.
