An extremist and dynamic speaker, he rallied enough support to commit a failed coup on the government. He was a convicted felon. As he did come to power, he manipulated the system to destroy anyone that hampered his control to power.

Are those that tried to stop him criminal or heroic?

They say those that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I think back to learning about Col. Claus von Stauffenberg and, what was called, operation Valkyrie.

It was an interesting story and was later made into a film.
