I guess for Secret Service is Trump as ex-president and not even official presidential candidate low priority target to protect. I've notices some of security people wore green military outfits at this event and the shooter wore similar outfit as well. That's why police snipers maybe confused him with those green clothed security people until he started to shoot.

The republican party has long known Trump would be far more useful as a martyr. So it wouldn't surprise me if we learned this was all part of an effort to solidify far right power and they just never imagined he would miss.

Also, at no point did I say I believed that's what happened. I only said it wouldn't surprise me. Especially since a guest of Alex Jones a few months floated the idea of assassinating Trump to trigger a civil war possibly being the best outcome the right could expect. Again, we are just repeating what you say back to you. It is not rhetoric. You seem to admit it is insane when you don't know it's your own side that is the source, why can't you know it's insane when you do know it's from your own people?

I've heard preliminary reports that the Secret Service asked for more agents and were turned down, as well as they were more concerned with someone hiding in trees, not on a roof that far away, outside the secure perimeter.

- Butler County (where the rally was being held) is very pro-Trump, he beat Biden 70%-30% in the last election, so it's less likely that someone would try anything
- The Secret Service knew nothing about this 20yo shooter... until the event

The way he reacted. Within 30 seconds of being shot at, he decided it was more important to stop and pose for a picture rather than leave. That's not how anyone would react to being shot at unexpectedly.
