Have you ever experienced Road Rage?

Experienced... like lunatics on the road? Yes, all the time. People are crazy, particularly where speed limits are a little higher... Like on the freeway in LA (terrible in the dead heat... I could walk from Point A to Point B faster).
Experienced... like in my soul? One time I was stuck behind this snail of a guy till I finally rolled down the window and yelled, "Come on, buddy, I've had BABIES in less time! Let's go!" The people in the neighboring car started laughing bc we were seriously both just trying to get around him and he was driving between the two lanes. Uuuuugh.
Inherited Road Rage? Possibly... My uncle stuck behind a cyclist when he was trying to drive folks to a train station... Ooooof.
Last year I looked in my rear view mirror, nothing for miles behind me. Minute later I've a knob head virtually in my boot trying to make me go faster. Eventually he managed to over take and sped off.
Eventually I caught up with him pulling the same trick with this red car, few feet behind him, flashing headlights, then zooming past.
Next thing the red cars got its blues and twos on. Dumb idiot tried it with an unmarked police car.
LOL very nice
@purplepoppy I love it when instant karma kicks in!

Yes, I'm one who gets pissed off easily with other drivers. It isn't THAT hard to drive decently.
Now: I don't retaliate by cutting them off, or doing whatever they did back to them. They're stupid enough to probably not even notice. I've been tempted, but never wanted to mess up my car or risk anything being my fault, even if they WERE being idiots. I TRY not to flip people off, but it gets tougher each day not to; (Flipping them off is usually for near accidents they caused with me, not just every idiot who does something illegal or stupid). I do get loud. I do wave like... "what the hell, idiot?" But they say even this is enough for the wrong person who just snapped, so I try to watch how much I do that, too.
I have had other people be dangerous with me - it's pretty much most times I drive. People drive like lunatics.
I try to pull over after a near accident to calm down, but often can't (because of other idiots and THEIR poor driving), which is frustrating.
I stop at stop signs. I signal to change lanes I watch my blindspots, and have tried to minimize those as much as I can. I try to yield at yield signs. I usually drive safely enough not to run even yellow lights. I try to allow the right number of car lengths, don't tailgate, and try not to block intersections (or store's driveways, if possible). I usually don't go any faster than 15 over the speed limit. Pull over for sirens. Stop when a bus is letting kids off and has the stop sign extended. Try not to turn on a red. Let walkers go through crosswalks. Try to let people over. I try to share the road. Give myself extra time to get to an appointment so I'm not already feeling rushed. Calm music.
That doesn't help much. Except for huge tech problems, this is the only real thing that makes me lose my cool, but it's a bad habit; and I have no interest in enraging myself to a point of a heart attack or stroke because of some moron who wasn't paying attention to the road and is now gone. I have yet to figure out the secret to staying calm in traffic. Counting, etc. In a half hour, I've probably been in at leas three near accidents (not by me), probably been tailgated the whole way, etc so I'm pretty stressed by the end. It wears me out.
Yes, it happens a lot around here. My worst experience was some guy in a pickup who was right up my butt (the car's, not mine) because I apparently wasn't speeding enough to meet his busy schedule. He tried to pass me on the grass median but couldn't, and eventually followed me onto an exit ramp. At the first traffic light he got out of his car and started running toward mine just as the light turned green so I took off. He kept following me closely and thankfully I knew where I was so I pulled into the parking lot of the local police station. There was a cop standing outside and he saw I was shaking, so I told him about the guy in the truck (he followed me to the police station) and he told me he'd take care of it. I don't know what the guy would have done if that light hadn't turned green at the right time.
American news channels have similar story about once a week, where the morons even start shooting each other. 🤷♂️
All the time in my homecountry, not as much in the one i live in currently but it still happens, i don't know if this counts but today one guy was driving behind me while on a 30 road, i stopped at a cross walk for a lady then proceed to drive 30 while he started honking like crazy and doing agressive gestures (it was only one lane so he couldn't overtake) i just went down to 20 barely, drove like that for as far as i could, he was very mad. Also i should mention that where i live now it is not normal to honk and people have a loooot of respect for drivers and rules. It is not allowed to honk without a good reason.
No. Road rage is, at its core, a loss of control- not of a vehicle- but of one’s own emotions. And that same person happens to have a 3 to 4 thousand pound machine (or whatever heat they pack in their glove box) at their fingertips to execute what they feel is a well deserved justice. Now, when we think about it this way- I find it very difficult to justify how road rage is even remotely acceptable. I’ve been a victim of it; a lot of people look for a fight- it’s best to just stay out of the way lest I become a statistic.
Yes, many years ago. I pulled out of parking lot and made a left turn into a left turn lane. A guy in a car in the normal lane then cut me off, stopped in front of me, got out of his car, and started yelling and screaming at me. I had my two young kids in the car, so it was important to defuse the issue. I talked calmly with him, letting him vent whatever he was mad about. Seeing he got no reaction from me, he eventually gave up, got back in his car, and drove back into the normal lane, almost hitting a car already there, and sped away.
Lol no. Though I had someone chase me all over town because I wouldn't go the speed he wanted me to, so when I parked in my driveway, at home, the guy boxed me in tried to attack me, I had a gun, pointed it at him and said "you really need to reevaluate your life choices." the guy left in a hurry, apparently he called the police, I showed the officer that showed up serveilance what happened, and the officer said he would have done the same thing.
The guy was one of those guys that owns a giant truck, the kind of truck that screams micropenis.
Against me - yeah.. Victoria Australia peak hour , really busy bumper to bumper road , guy waiting at stop sign waiting to come out , there were " Keep Clear " areas so these kinda guys could get out , but I misjudged in the heavy traffic and was in left lane right in front of him , the traffic just stopped when I thought it was still moving , it was 8am , been up 1.5 hrs , half asleep , slightly misjudged..
This guy jumped out of the car , he looked like Sadam Hussain , he was banging on the roof , screaming for me to get out - Wholly Fck , I was not letting him in , couldn't go forward or back , he went back to the car and grabbed a Crowbar , fortunately as he was progressing the traffic started to move and I hot footed outta there , as he tried to case me onfoot.
Of course. I have always thought that roof-mounted surface to surface missiles would be perfect for city freeway driving, until my fiancée informed me that unlike planes, the wreckage would still be in the way.
I mean if swearing a couple of times at someone for cutting me off and holding my hand like... after you asshole... is road rage, then I guess so.
Not into the whole flipping the person off and having words though, too many squirrelly-brained people out there.
Yes! Back when people were calling women "Karen" one of those women went bullestic while she was driving because we were going the speed limit. She was almost in our trunk she was that close. She was flipping me off, and I could tell she was screaming at me with her window up 🙄 Finally she got off at the next exit.
Sort of. If there is a line for an exit and someone tries to pass everyone and jump into the front of the line. I'm always like two feet away from the person in front of me for that sort of thing but if someone else in front of me let's them in I get a little irritated.
There was one instance that I felt road rage. School bus stopped in front of me and turned on their lights, it was a pretty obvious bus stop at a stop sign. I could see it from down the street and obviously breaked. This maniac who was following behind me for half the road honks at me really long, almost slams into the back of my car, and swerves out of the way speeding past the bus. I never wanted to run someone off the road so badly in my life.
absolutely, I don't get crazy but I do cuss and shake my fist ( i don't want an ulcer). I hate when people are impatient and pull out in front of you forcing you to hit the brakes, and there's no traffic behind you, then they go slow holding you up. I also don't like it when people decide they aren't going to get in line with a merge ahead and speed past everyone in the left lane that ends at the merge cutting/forcing their way into the line at the merge. Another grievance is people driving slow in the passing lane holding up traffic. And lets not forget about those people that refuse to pull over for emergency vehicles except for the police that will and do issue tickets for failing to do so.
Yes it looked like the stupidest thing ever. One way street, only space for one car. Two cars driving against each other on the street, pushing one forward only for the other driver to push back. They kept at it for a solid 10 minutes and then one gave up and gave way for the other.
All the time not intentional but intentional I don’t like it when there’s no turn signals or this extra brightness in my rearview light why can’t I see why you not telling me where you going and you just jumping in front of me or are you slowing and we hidden the brakes OK I get irritated real quick. I’m very courteous. It doesn’t take that long to let someone over as I was taught.
Against me, yes. So many idiotic drivers around here. They lean on the horn and go nuts when I do not turn right on a red light that has multiple big signs saying "No Turn on Red." Or when I refuse to cut in front of pedestrians in a crosswalk. Basically whenever anyone is a thoughtful driver who follows the rules.
I didn't notice any aggressive behavior with exception few assholes tried to force me to drive faster while keeping less than 3m distance to my rear bumper. Since tickets for speeding increased massively there are lot of such drivers.
Some aggressive idiot 20 years ago was hellbent on overtaking me on a busy interstate when neither my speed nor traffic allowed it. He even leaned out of the window to shake his fist and yell. I smiled and waved to him, which made him even madder. 😬
Yes! My aunt had it pretty badly!! EVERY time we'd catch a red light!! Every time a light turned green and the person in front didn't move fast enough for her!! Every time someone drove "too close" (according to her)!!
Not the legal definition, I just mutter under my breath or later on once home have a stress ball at home jokingly, stress balls are like blah - I'm actually a humble driver - I just let it all wash off 🌧️🌧️🌧️
I rage almost every day. It's terrifying how bad some people are at driving and how many times I've nearly been t boned on roundabouts because people don't indicate. Honestly I hate roundabouts for that reason. So many people don't know how to use them. I think majority of my near misses have been on a roundabout either from someone going when they're not supposed to or not indicating correctly. It's a shame there's so many I have to drive through on a daily basis.
My road rage is just cursing to myself about how stupid people are though 😊
That was me Thursday when someone almost hit me on a ramp coming off from a bridge on my way home. Bitch couldn’t wait so she passed me and had the audacity to record me for yelling at her and flipping her off. I was so pissed off.
Yup. He was pealed off my trucks bumper after we rounded a corner to reveal a motorcycle cop... who practically dropped his radar gun. It was great.
I’ve seen other Hulk out but I’ve never personally experienced it.
Id say for me, it's being late with what I call law enforcers or Sunday drivers.
I might actually make to work on time if I leave the house a little earlier 😂
But I might make it to work on time when I'm late if all drivers go the same speed 😡😂
Nah I try not letting crazy driver get to me
I live in New York. It happens on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day. They are in a hurry to get in their grave
I have. I had a guy follow me and when I parked he ran up with a gun. I somehow talked him out of shooting me.
I've been on the receiving end of it. I guess he didn't have a gun because he kept on going.
No, get frustrated by all the idiots that don't know how to drive but not enough to pull them out of their cars and give them the sound thrashing that most of them richly deserve.
Yes. Several times. WORST was when a guy was trying to pass me screaming and holding a baseball bat. Scary mfer too.
Yeah. Indeed. Assholes sparring this way and that in front of me doing 80 to 100 mph !
not myself, no...
Yeah but nobody down to fade lol they just pull off like busters
Daily lol 😂. Drivers around here are the worst
You encounter that quite often here in Italy.
Yes I have.
I just did and I am still trying to calm down lol
