There are dozens of questions about it everyday. The Americans do not seem to realize there is an entire planet out there.

Actually, yes it is an American site, with a large majority of the members being American. When you join an American site, with American members, what do you expect? Feel free to join a UK site, or start your own. You can't blame Americans for not starting a UK site.

As for US politics, I got sick of hearing about US presidential elections 20 years ago. It's non-stop. As soon as one election is over, talk about the next one starts. There used to be a time-out between election talk, but too many bored people won't let it rest.

The founder is a Turkish Immigrant to the US. The site itself is American. It also got some American investment money. I don't even know if the founder is still the primary owner.

There is also a site in Turkey and I think one in S America somewhere. Those are separate non-English language sites. The English language site you are on now is an American site.

Also an option to filter out personal issues questions (e. g. "what does he mean" / "does he like me" / "how do I get him to look at me") ...
... AND an option to filter out weird sweeping generalisations (e. g. "why do men hate women" / "why do dogs hate mailmen" / "why do clowns hate doctors")...
... AAAAND an option to filter out "Is it normal" / "Is it weird" questions.

In fact we need a lot of filters for a lot of the absolute garbage on this site.

I would definitely be fine with removing political commentary from the site completely. It's supposed to be for relationships and related topics. The aggression of the US Elections has basically highjacked the site. It's hit a very annoying point.

You can block any topic you want to on here.
I just asked and answered about this the day before yesterday.
If you want to block the Politics and Society topic by all means block it!
If you want to block the Trending News topic then block that topic as well.
You can streamline your feed to however you want it.
No one HAS to look at those things if they don't want to.
Because I use my cellphone 📱 and the GaG app I have no way of knowing what country members are from, so since I am in America 🇺🇸 and so many questions are about things going on in America I don't even give it a second thought about people from other countries being tired of hearing about what's going on in America 🇺🇸.
But they have to realize too that the Democratic party including the President Biden has changed our country into a hell hole and we are fighting so hard to get it back the way it was before the democrats totally destroyed American and they hate Americans and love and give the illegal aliens everything for free!
They are stealing American's jobs, places where our military Vets were living and kicking them outside to the streets making our Veterans homeless while the illegal aliens take their hotel rooms and THEY ARE THE ONE'S B
