A clear yes or no doesn't really apply to me.

If someone is telling a long story, there may be moments I want to interrupt to quickly insert something into the conversation and then the other person can continue.

This is not because I feel I am more important... if you wait to long, the thing you wanted to say might have slipped away or the right moment is gone.

I do hate being in groups myself (A group is more than 2 people for me), because I am always the one who pulls at the shortest end and I will not get a word in at all or I feel ignored.

The only time I try to talk over people is if they attempt to prevent me from speaking more than reasonable due to a desire to monopolize the time and attention for themselves or when they say inflammatory things that I have a strong opposition to and I am prevented from voicing my concerns due to oppressive conversational stunting by them. If they let me talk like a normal person, I will let them talk like a normal person.

When I need to get the attention of a group, then yes, there's a call to attention so we can start our meeting, But if two of us start talking at the same time I pause to give the other person a chance to make their point. If a person is a "motormouth" who never comes up for breath then I do occasionally do smile, touch their arm and "double dutch" my way into the conversation.

Usually it happens when I am on the phone with them and they pause too long before speaking again and I thought they were finished and it was my turn. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If people are the sort to not listen I just stop talking. No reason to talk over them. Social skills are pretty simple.

Sometimes you have to talk a lot louder to get your words out when there’s a lot of talking, at once but I don’t like to talk over people
