In terms of capability how do Israeli soldiers compare to American soldiers?

I remember in the late '00s, the general consensus was that while the US military is more powerful because of it's larger personal size, on a person-to-person basis, Israeli soldiers were better. But while many have pointed out that while the total number of deaths in Gaza may have passed the total deaths from the Iraq War (and remember that the Iraq war lasted 8 years while the conflict in Gaza has been raging for 9 months and Iraq had 10X the population at the time), the IDF is losing soldiers in Gaza at 1.5X the rate that the US lost them in Iraq. So in conflict it does seem that even when you adjust for the total number of soldiers, the US military vastly outperforms the Israeli military.

The better part of the us military is geared up for force projection abroad so has a lower percentage of combat troops compared to Israel. The Israelis has a core of professional troops and the rest are conscripts and reserves. The US could probably match Israel man for man 10 times over when it comes to professional combat troops but let's not forget the us military has 70,000 special operations troops alone which is well over half of the Israeli Army's 126,000 regular troops.

and they're all trained for different purposes as well

truth is, they all train each other and share knowledge and experience...

They are better trained and more disciplined but that is not difficult considering the comparison.
