Trending & News I drive our garbage to the dump every few months. They don't recycle anymore. But they do have bins for metals and electronics.
We take aluminum, glass and plastic that has CRV to recycling centers.
We don't use toxic chemicals and we compost a lot at our house.
We try to minimize waste.
We don't do any of that because of the "CO2 climate change" hoax. We do it to prevent pollution of land, oceans and fresh water, and promote healthy habitats and biodiversity.
Besides how would recycling impact "climate change"?
I've been an environmentalist for decades.
I was the Board Chairman of a really great, local environmental nonprofit from 2003 to 2011. We held education events and promoted things like organic farmers, farmer's markets, grass-fed beef, locally and humanely raised meat, eggs and dairy, home gardens instead of lawns, permaculture, land preservation and restoration, river and creek clean ups, the idea of "renew, reuse, recycle", water conservation, minimizing air pollution, and not using herbicides or agricultural poisons. We had a huge local impact.
We weren't militant. We didn't criticize people or tell them what to do. We even became good friends with conventional farmers and ranchers, many of whom, as it turned out, were interested in more ecologically friendly and sustainable ideas.
Im so happy to know that people like you exist! Keep it up!!
Yes, because it helps reduce waste buildup and pollution. My community makes it easy with weekly recycling pickup. I used to have to take everything to recycling centers. Still did it, but it sucked.
Climate change is a negligible factor as I view it as a minimal concern to humanity. Whereas waste pollution, water contamination, and plastic production create active health harm to human life. And much of the wildlife.
I don't currently, but used to burn paper and cardboard as fire starter, but never for waste removal. Everything now is taken to a landfill or recycling center by the city's waste management program.
TY for illuminating answer!
I recycle because I hate waste, and believe that recycling and reusing helps to reduce the impact on local landfills. It has nothing to do with climate change! There's almost nothing. The US can do to change global carbon emissions! The United States accounts for at most 12% of global CO2 emissions, while China is responsible for 30 to 32% of global CO2emissions. The continent of Asia is responsible for over 60% of global CO2 emissions, and Asian countries like China and India are almost entirely responsible for the overwhelming majority of oceanic garbage dumping.
I just believe that in the rare instances that I buy a diet Pepsi in a plastic 20 ounce bottle, it’s far better to wash that bottle and reuse it (as much as 12 times) then recycle it, rather than just throwing it in the recycling (aka garbage) every time I use one!
Yes mostly cuz recyclables take up too much room in the trash 😂 also in NY they have money back for waterbottles and soda bottles so right as well return them to get that fee back
@Apple1996 the main reason I recycle. Recycling bin is free. I pay for garbage by the size of the bin. Recycling keeps a small bin much more manageable and saves us money
@matchrestore that sucks you gotta pay for trash
My kids were incentivized by the free money so they all recycle out of habit. I don't know you were NYer!
@matchrestore never heard of that policy before!! Illuminating and very PROGRESSIVE

I do not gave trash pickup in my town. I go to the transfer station just about every week. I have to separate plastic, glass, metal cans, scrap metal, paper, cardboard, electronics, furniture, construction materials and refrigerators and air conditioners. There is even a tank where I recycle used motor oil.
I have been doing it since I moved here. I use a utility trailer. The town derives some income, especially for the cardboard, scrap paper, metal and lead car batteries.
I have been doing it since I moved here over 25 years way before global warming was a thing. I have recycled since I was a kid living with my mother. I am a big believer in recycling. I think global warming is a hoax.
Thats great!!
We have recycling procedures for paper, glass and plastic. There are additional bins for old clothing. There is a bit of greenwashing involved, though, specifically with plastic. A lot of it still ends in incinerator plants. But all in all I feel the EU is on the right path.
Not just on the right path, innovative at leading!
Yes, makes me good money
Easy when you pay for it but the council collect the general stuff
No
Most is collected for landfill but I generally burn wood
TY for that pov from across the pond!
I recycle.
My community makes it easy.
I think climate change is more of a cult than a science.
I recycle because it's inefficient to throw things away when they still have use left in them.
I just took two huge bags to the place down the road via motorcycle last week.
That must have been a sight!!
I had them wrapped in canvas bags so it just looked like cargo.
Yes, I do recycle and it's easy to do it where I live. I know I can't stop climate change but I do what I can. So yes, I can say that impacted my choice.
I put the organic waste on the dumpster, I can't burn it.
I burn most everything. What I don't goes to the landfill
Like burn it yourself or its trucked to incinerator plant?
Your palace grounds must be large, private and AWESOME!!
Sounds idyllic
The waste dsiposal company in my area charges me $ 87 a month to pick up my trash, and gave me 3 barrels for trash, recycling, and garden waste, and expects ME to sort my trash for recycling so they can sell part of it and and make even more money.
They can go to hell. I am not their employee, I don't care about their profits, and I don't sort trash. They can fucking well sort it themselves.
$87 A MONTH? Holy shit are the garbage vehicles cybertrucks and garbage men wear rolexs? Thats NUTS!! IS it a small population but large area community?
Yeah, but I’m disappointed by the limitations in my municipality’s recycling program compared to others, especially in Europe.
Same!!!
The last place I lived, I recycled. My current area doesn't support recycling.
The glass and plastic can be reused. Not tree hugger, just a conservationist.
I do some recycling, that is optimal for the semi-industrial region, yes...
and it is just a lifetime habit... matter of economy, way before climate change was trendy thing to post about
Nah, recycling most things is a scam.
Did you ever see penn & tellers take on it from their now cancelled show "Bullshit"? YOU will die laughing!!
Yup.
Truly made me wonder and i checked it out. They're right for mistly large red states but were wring for my community. Those two MFers are funny too!
