If its a seat for pregnant, old or people with other health issues, then YES! Get your Ass of that seat and give it to people who need it more. It's an obligation. If your condition is worse than any of those kind of people I mentioned, then you need the seat more and you can break the obligation rule.

But if it's a seat for everyone, then it's not an obligation, it's just about morals.

But at seat where it's for pregnant people, old people, or people with health issues then it doesn't matter whether you like it or not, you have to give away your seat. It's a rule. This kind of seats have a sign of a pregnant person🫄, an old person with a walking stick 🧓or a person in a wheelchair ♿

Other than that, no, nobody can force you to display even an ounce common decency.

Courtesy is governed on a social boon basis and not on a social elimination basis. There are many preferences that are enforced through kindness and not through legal discipline when non compliance happens. You cannot build a loving society using only reverse negatives for punitive control.
