Prisons. An adult time out. What better methods of restorative JUSTICE and less punitive VENGEANCE would work better?

The suggestion below would apply to some / most non-violent crimes,

Ankle monitor / halfway house, REAL EFFECTIVE STAFFED parole supervision, community service and monetary fines?

Perhaps mandatory labor in which they learn a trade (s) and must demonstrate apprentice, journeyman or mastery level to gain release?

Maybe mandatory education classes, counseling, emotional regulation techniques, psychological reconditioning, etc.

A national service program for non-violent offenders maybe running internships in their area if expertise on home release? Maybe an international program where they provide service and in steps work their way back home?

Just an aside. There are three things that should never be run for profit, prisons are one of them. Healthcare and education are the other two.

Prisons are supposed to be punitive. Sucks to suck.

Prisons are supposed to be rehabilitative. Our current hellholes just make more & better criminals.

A big problem today is the lack of real world consequences. For instance recently a 20 year old German woman was jailed for a weekend for referring to one of her convicted rapists who was involved in her gang rape as a "disgraceful rapist pig". Even though this guy has admitted to this and been convicted of this it was defamation for her to call him this, in fact she got more jail than he did. That tells this rapist and his rapists friends that there are no consequences other than possibly community service for gang raping a 20 year old woman whenever they feel like it

That sounds like a highly unusual miscarriage of justice. Just the same, for all of those incarcerated, I think it's up to 2 and 1/2 million in America, they're simply has to be a better way than what we're doing now

If just throwing people into prison worked, the US would be the safest country on the planet.
