Why do people get so into politics?

I see it so many times… in real life and on here. So many people sell their soul to a political party and fall in line with every single belief for said party. People, please wake up and stop being so brainwashed. This goes for both sides. All politicians are trash. They want nothing more than to abuse people for their own personal benefit. Also, don’t know if you have noticed, but regardless of who is president, it doesn’t make much difference in your life personally. Keep your political opinions to yourself, and stop making it a part of your personality.

I fully agree with you... but it is what people do.

I am Left-Wing; that's as far as you can go with placing me into a 'corner'... I do not follow/ support ideologies to the letter; I don't do Cult Worshipping; etc.
I am me, and my views and preferences are all over the place. I may even have some Conservative views too (I am, after all, getting older... and with older age people do tend to become more Conservative)

People also still seem to think we live in a Democracy; we do not. That lie is being kept alive so the ignorant plebs keep thinking that they can actually change something politically, but they cannot. It doesn't matter who you vote for, they will not care about you, your needs, etc.

There's a reason for that... Both sides of the political spectrum; Left-Right, Democrats-Republicans, Labour-Conservatives... They are all being bankrolled by 'Oligarchs'. They are the ones who hold power, they are the ones who are controlling our politicians and political parties through the very generous donations they hand out. Do people seriously assume that those millionaires and billionaires hand that money out to our politicians without asking... demanding... anything in return?

To raise awareness. I still hope that if enough people realise we are being lied to and fucked over by our politicians on a daily basis, more and more people will be supportive of a massive overhaul of our Political, Economical and Social climate. In my opinion there is only 1 way to force change: Mass Civil Disobedience... and that'll only work if the majority of the population is willing to go along in that.

Nowadays, mostly because they're crazed, megalomaniacal idealogues who hate this nation with a passion, and have one, and only one objective in mind -- to destroy it. People don't like to hear that, but deep down, everyone here knows it's true.

I don't know personally I'm not big into politics at all. I've had friends and even dated people with many different political views and I feel like I can understand there perspective regardless. I guess that's a little more of a positive point of view than you have though, heh.

No one is born being Republican or Democrat or the names of your political party in your country.

Political beliefs are adopted by peers and people don't like to feel isolated or like they don't fit in so they often get deep into politics and politicians because they genuinely feel it's part of their identity they have adopted for themselves.
