Does it bother you in True Crime when they refer to child victims as “young women” ?

I think they do it because Tide isn't going to want their commercial to come on if they throw phrases like 16 year old or pedophile around too haphazardly.

so they can either cancel the show or use language thats easier for a guy in an office to explain to advertisers that the shows genre is horror. Notice it's usually a lot of feel good commercials that come on for shows like that.

We've kind of moved the goal posts a few times as to what constitutes a young woman. In the 80s&90s it was 16, now it's 18 and soon to be 22. Most women in their 30s think of themselves as girls rather than women, they haven't been girls in years. Women in their 30s having kids are referred to as mature mothers, they don't like that.

Well it all started because religious nuts wanted to marry 10-14 year olds. State law had to “compromise” and say 14…with parents permission.

Tbf, it’s not really happening outside religious compounds yet to be raised.

My grandmother was married at 14. It made sense in the past because kids under 18 were having sex just as they are now with the girl getting pregnant so they needed someone to finacially support the young mother and child.
Modern contraception and abortion has probably changed a lot of social dynamics.

Lots. Police reports, documentaries, etc. Just watched hillside stranglers and Ted Bundy. It’s more a “collective” of victims as young women…instead of young women and children.

But it causes us not to see these creeps as pedophiles as well as rapists.
