Legal migration is very hard. Many on the left argue it was too hard, which is why they think immigration should be more open. I think immigration is hard for a reason and it ought to say as such if not made harder.

One of the several reasons why the left wants as much illegal immigration as possible is so that when anyone opposes if they can call them racists and xenophobes.

They just ignore the fact that you applaud legal immigration. They make no distinction between the two intentionally because they don't want to call attention to it.

People are in favor of illegal immigration because it's politically correct (which is absolutely crazy) and because it doesn't affect them. I remember talking to a classmate about it once, and she said that if she lived near the border or in a state/area affected by illegal immigration, she would be against it because of the physical danger it would put her and her family/friends in. But then she also said that she supported illegal immigration because it didn't affect her. Short fucking eyesight if you ask me.

If you want to maintain a single political union you have to maintain a single cultural union to some degree.

That mean immigration rates cannot exceed the ability of the native population to integrate and assimilate.

Faster than that and you end up with marginalized and balkanized communities, that ultimately force the state to be either repressive to control them or split up. This is because political solutions like federalism can only expand your ability to tolerate diversity soo far, and only if your consistently willing to practice it.
