Why does the U. S. sit back and allow Israel to attack Iran? Then, after Israel attacks Iran, why does the US try to prevent Iran from taking revenge?

The U. S. does not want a war with Iran. Nevertheless, the U. S. moved ships and airplanes to the Middle East to scare Iran into refraining from hitting Israel.

But Tehran may not be intimidated. With the assassination of the Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh Israel killed a foreign state guest of Iran within Iran. The assassination demonstrated that Israel is not deterred from such acts. If Iran leaves this without consequences Israel would kill additional Iranian politicians. The footage of all the children and women killed can be found all over the media and the Internet, which is exactly why people in all the countries of the world have stood up against Israel. Though Israelis claim that they bomb Hamas in Gaza, Hamas is still inflicting heavy losses and casualties on the Zionists. What exactly has Israel done except for killing innocent people? Hamas is still operating as usual and nothing has changed in Gaza. The only thing that has changed is about 300,000 Israelis coming to the streets protesting against Netanyahu to agree to a deal to bring back the captives. Israel hasn't even been able to finish Gaza for 11 months and now they have to deal with all these protests inside their borders, and this is when they have all the support from the US and the western governments!!

And this is exactly where the US decline begins. When you interfere in the world's affairs, when you wage wars all over the world, you will have to focus your military resources on several fronts which leaves you much more vulnerable. The US having to send part of its defensive equipments and navy to the Middle East, has given Putin advantage and opened his hands to more freely do whatever he wants to do with Ukraine!! Of course the US is not at a position today to fight on several fronts. This is exactly why they've been trying to send messages to Iran through various mediators to persuade them not to carry out a retaliatory attack against Israel. It's not because the US wants peace (far from that, the US has always been a chief instigator of war and bloodshed all over the world), but because they know they can't find this war, especially at a time when they also have to support Ukraine against Russia.
