I remember when Biden took office, fuel prices shot up within days. Personally, the Biden presidency has not benefitted me at all. However, I feel I have been more at a disadvantage ever since.
- The tech recession really started to take effect. I am a software engineer. Due to the mass layoffs in the tech industry, it is much more challenging to land a new role.
- The cost of rent skyrocketed within a year of Biden taking office. A one bedroom apartment that once cost $800 a month rose to $1,300 a month.
- Homeownership became more unobtainable. Being almost 30 and wanting to own my first home, I was outpriced. For example, looking at the history of these homes, a condo that once sold for under $200k in 2021 is now selling for over $350k in 2024.
- Interest rates have increased for mortgage loans, car loans, or any type. of loan/line of credit.
- I feel my career has not taken off. I have employment instability everywhere I go.
- I am having difficulties obtaining affordable mental healthcare or any healthcare for that matter.
- I feel more strapped financially even for just groceries. I spent about $8 today on just 2 items: a tube of Pillsbury orange roles and a jar of store brand apple butter.
- My overall stress levels have increased.
These are just examples of issues I have encountered on a personal basis.
