The US has a federal system. In my country - also with a federal system - there are protections for smaller states not to be dominated by larger states. This is pretty much a foundational deal in federal systems in Federal systems such as US and Australia.

For Australian constitutional change a majority of the people and the states must approve. A change that takes power away from smaller states has absolutely no chance of success.

Likewise I think you would have zero chance of a change of taking power away from your smaller states. I think you have to get three fourths of states to ratify. An absolute non starter as 13 state No's stop you in your tracks.

I assume you could get more states to divide up their electoral votes into congressional districts so it is a closer approximation to a popular vote but that would attack party power as well as state influence.

Popular vote has decided so much, I believe the people know what they want when they compare, contrast, let personal beliefs / bias away and judge based on their words, actions, etc.

It is important to have the country on the same page that we don’t shove personal beliefs down people’s throats, but teach people how to think so they can raise this country up hill upon a mountain to be that shining city on a hill. We are an amazing country of possibilities, freedoms, love, and rich cultures. We cannot forget who we are. President George Washington, President Abraham Lincoln, and other powerful leaders that came before us have passed down a great country, we must keep the American Dream alive n well. Electoral College is a scam to hinder the voices of the people, we must be heard!

He won an election fairly. It's possible to win an election in any state you just have to propose ideas that benefit the people and their overall lives, the state and country and they most likely they will vote for you.

It was originally because rural voters had less access to political officials, thus forcing candidates to leave the populated areas.
