Do you think ENVY and jealous I’d the biggest problem in America?

It looks like gang members and violence has to do with envy and jealous? Not to mention all the entertainment business using jealous people.

Maybe to a certain extent. I saw Anthony Bourdain interviewing a young black Trinidad kid. He basically told him, if someone has something for too long he'll take it from them, because he also feels entitled to a piece of the pie.

And in my science class in high school we were doing an earthquake survival scenario, and we had to make a survival kit. He said one time he had a Mexican gangster from LA in his class, and the guy only put one item in his survival kit, a gun. And he said if he needed something, he was just gonna rob people for it.

Some people join gangster for protection, some for company, but surely envy and jealousy is a reason too. Easy money and stealing. The truth is that in many of these communities, people respect you more if you gangster bang, then if you work and go to college. I think it does boil down to jealousy and envy.

But I think this is a problem everywhere, not just in the US. I've noticed people get most jealous and envious of people from their country who move/grow up abroad.

It does lead to toxic behavior and I've lost friends and acquaintances because of it, but is it the biggest problem, maybe not directly, but you're probably right that other problems result from it. I feel jealousy results from cockiness and showboating.

In the case of America, I saw some foreigner say how cool it is that Americans congratulate each other on promotions. If someone is already in a higher position, the congratulations might be genuine, otherwise no. Because in reality, Americans love when you fail because it makes them feel better about themselves, and they can't stand when someone is smarter or more successful then them. Americans have no qualms about throwing you under the bus to get ahead themselves. Americans also hate people like Trump, but they love rags to riches stories.

Most gang relations have to do with money or pride, not enviness and jealousy even tho in some cases these might play a part as well but normally it's for respect and for money, it's for territory or drugs which all play a part in greed.

Because it's valuable, or they can't afford it and they want it, or both

no i think its lack of effective education thus many (NOT ALL) Americans learn nothing at school, high school, collage, and university. Thus fail to understand how the world works despite being in the education system for years.

I think Donald Trump and his ilk are the biggest problem in America. Certainly so in my lifetime and I am 61.

The biggest problem with people everywhere is ego. We as a species create our own problems and let ego get in the way of getting along for the greater good.
