There are two basic types of jealousy, in my experience. If you and I are classmates or co workers, etc, and you're getting all the best looking women, because you're better looking, or more popular than me, that's not so terrible, as long as I don't try to retaliate in some way or other. But if you work two jobs for ten years, so you can buy a nice house, and I hate your guts for living in a nicer house than me, when I could have done the same thing myself, but wasn't industrious enough, that's self denial. Unfortunately, we have widespread occurrence of the latter variety of jealousy today.
