How is the representation of women in films and TV evolved, do you believe it’s for the better or for the worse, could improvement be made?

I believe women in modern media play an important role and still find their content to be relevant and interesting. Not much improvement needed.

Women from 30 to 50 need more representation. Seeing the young girls and spunky grandmas are great but where are the moms who were just making it by? The late 30s who is going through a life crisis? The divorce woman who doesn't find her Prince the second time? Hollywood has a real blind spot for reading this demographic.

. i do and invite others to keep a braud scope in mind as to veiw it all with wider perspective.. i ve always admired woman on screen even as cartoons. sci fi fantasy genres and seen its evolution. and my interpritation of all i seen as mostly good, awesome or Damn!

I don't know if this is still an issue though I hated there being a “girl power” trend…. Hear me out, I actually have a point unlike the sexist knobs.

There was this “rush” to push women roles in media and it was at the expense of quality (lack of character development, lack of good character traits, and no hero’s journey) It would be like “She is powerful and the main character end of story”. I would like it if it were more oriented in story telling and learning her motivations, feelings, connections also learning a life lesson to be a better person through actual plot development since I feel just having a female role doesn’t do anything and removes to soul out of things.

I don't know if this trend is still in the mainstream or not, wished we had actual good female characters to root for & praise like the ones of the past. More women involved in leading roles is cool to see, though making them all powerful & dominant & above just by being given it also giving them ego is just artificial and soulless also so stone cold corporate BS… Maybe I’m dumb, I guess. Anyone else notice this?

I have been watching shows from the 60s and have noticed that if there is a struggle between two men and a woman is watching, she tends to stay away and not help one of the men. I did see a "Star Trek" episode in which Lieutenant Uhura handed Captain Kirk something to hit his adversary over the head with, rendering him unconscious. That was progressive for the time, that she was thinking about how Kirk could knock out the other man, but today she would have done it herself.

I think its for the worse women are all represented in the same small set of ways pressuring women to select one of those limited choices rather than be free to select their own way

There is an unwanted Masculinization of women in movies.. trying to portray how women empowerment is only possible by doing an impossible thing of beating 10 men twice her size easily and making them talk bitchy all the time

Women went from getting the right to vote to getting into powerful places like courtroom as a prosecutor / lawyer / judge / etc. and to places like doctors, engineers, construction workers, retail work, dentistry, everything…. If women were to be pornstars then all them would be however they are doing pretty damn well for themselves. I’m sure as Hell you ain’t a pornstar so I don't know I just don’t see it.
