Do you feel it’s better? Worse? Same? Not a problem at all?
Seems like horror movies still have this stereotype. But if it sells, that’s on us, the consumers.

Clearly this above image shows a well dressed girl without any sexual troubles at all. Lol

The violence against women, specifically in horror movies, both takes inspiration from past movie success formulas and real life, but also is very much a reflection of who is in charge of the movie and what they aim to do. Take a movie that does the opposite, Jennifer’s Body, it’s a movie where a majority of the victims are men and done so in viciously gory ways that are pretty typical of horror stories. I’ve heard there are a lot of men that can’t stomach watching it because of the sight of an admittedly attractive but deadly woman killing men so violently. Meanwhile, they can handle a woman dying in a horror movie just fine. This shows a lot about how we view violence against women as a society when the roles are reversed and suddenly there are many more uncomfortable people. Obviously the point of horror is to make you uncomfortable and scared, but we don’t bat an eye at a woman dying on a screen versus a man, depending on how they die and whatnot. It’s interesting to think about.
Violence against women and rapes are glorified on the screen. Why, because most movies are made by men.

It's better than it used to be, but not gone by any means. I feel like it's something that will mostly change naturally as the next generation of consumers dominates the market. Ofc, only if we aren't the kind of people who like to see women in pain. So it's not like we don't have to do anything, we do have to keep exposing misogyny. Not support movies that show women as only props to aid or tempt the men. Stuff like that ig
Absolutely. And art is powerful. So we should be careful what messages we put into the world with it.
Lol,
