It is a choice, and im saying this as a conservative.
Why is having kids such a political debate?
It is a choice, and im saying this as a conservative.
I honestly didn’t know it was a political thing… abortion of course is. And the left claim the right hates IVF (not true). Oh and the left want the schools to be in charge of our children upbringing not the parents,
But I didn’t know there was any issues with having kids.
There are. If you say you don’t want kids, meaning mostly a woman, she gets called selfish, etc, so on.
We get told we will never find true love or fulfillment unless we have babies.
Really? From which party… I’m assuming the right?
The left want to abort babies and then mutilate their genitals if you do birth them…
The right mostly tends to say that women are brainwashed for not wanting babies and such. I see things all the time about this debate
I don’t like the left at all🤣
Sorry women get pressure from the right to do anything. The right normally wants people to live freely as they see fit.
It’s a mothers job to pressure her daughter into having kids not politics lol
I'm not entirely sure, to be honest with you. I guess I have heard in the news that the US population is on the decline, so I guess that's the reason. It can create concerns that the work force will shrink over time. That's pretty bad for the wealthy people who need workers to maintain their lifestyle, but I imagine that would actually be a benefit for the rest of us. More housing, cleaner environments, money saved (or spent on fun things, depending on the individual).

not sure who's making it political
I guess you could say conservatives are doing so in regards to addressing population decline and future economic problems whereas liberals are doing so in regards to global warming and creating a globalist communist community with a smaller population to control
then again mathematics, physical fitness and gender these days is political
It isn't. Republicans simply have a persecution complex and since none of the grievances they have for themselves are true they have to pretend to advocate for someone who can't speak for themselves.
What do u mean exactly?
When it comes down to it Republicans have exactly one policy: give more money to the rich. In this they have been consistent for the last 50 years. All other stated policies are merely statements to get elected. Promising the moon but delivering only more money to the rich worked for a little while but people caught on.
Then right wing media began its rise after the fairness doctrine was voided and guys like Limbaugh made a whole industry out of telling white christian men that they are the victims of civilization. Every day for 30+ years millions of white men would tune in to hear a new (made up) story about how women, Muslims, and brown people were taking everything from white christian men. This gave the vast majority of Republicans a persecution complex, where they feel like they aren't getting any attention at all if they can't feel like they are being attacked.
But of course it is all made up. However, the addiction to victimhood is etched into their soul. So, because no one is taking them seriously when they talk about how they are put upon, they turn to find someone else they can say is being put upon to be a proxy for their own grievances. You'll note their anger at how kids are treated will not result in them calling for more taxes tompay for solutions. Instead it will call for punishing women, Muslims, and brown people, because that was their target all along..
The US is an incredibly polarized country, so much so that almost everything becomes a matter of politics. The US is like a huge castle that has been doused with gasoline; the slightest flame can burn the entire castle down. Politicians in particular must be very careful and unite the people, otherwise a second civil war is inevitable. No external force can destroy the United States, but it can be destroyed from within.
Ugh the US is a shit show now
It's not a political thing to me. Those that make it political are straight up stupid, and have no business being parents or really having an opinion on the matter.
I have just seen incidents where if a woman says she doesn’t want kids she is called names, and told she is brainwashed by feminism. So im wondering how a personal choice can be political
Dunno, I have zero issues with women that say they don't want kids.
I will say from personal experience, the women I knew from my youth who stated they didn't want kids are the same women who now are complaining about not having kids when they were younger. And I have zero sympathy for them, they made choices, choices have consequences.
@Worldscolide eh. Everyone is different there are people who have kids and see them as nothing but a burden and baggage 🤷🏼♀️
You may not have a problem but society has a problem with people who do not want to birth children
Yeah never understood the issue. Let people do as they wish
Democrats/Leftists. They want to dismantle and remake a Socialist Utopia. That's what Obama meant of Fundamental Transformation. He did not say "for the better".
One reason is in the USA the presidential election is occurring and one important topic is abortion. So this is why kids are political rn.
Makes sense?
Not talking about abortion. Talking about how society has a stigma that women must be homemakers and have children
And it has turned into a political thing
Thank you for clarifying the subject. One reason why gender roles have become political is because the right and left are fear mongering and using politics to push agendas.
From the left : MAGA wants women to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. They want to role society back to the 1950s
From the right : radical leftists are siding with feminists and lgbtq. They can’t even say what a woman is and they are pushing DEI even if that push destroys society.
Each of these sides are meant to create emotional bases and rally them to vote Against the other side
Is that more in line with what you are asking about?
Ah that makes sense!
Because society is so polarized, thinking about the future really scares me I think I'll move to Canada or scotland
What does polarized mean?
The division of society into two on every issue is 50 percent and 50 percent.
That's a good question. I honestly don't know why it is either you want to have kids or you don't. I don't know why it's such a big deal
