Contrary to what the American far right will have you believe the streets of the UK are not piled high with the rotting corpses of stabbing victims. London does have a problem but it's mostly in a few small areas. The fact is if these people had easy access to guns they would shoot rather than stab. You can keep your distance from a knife but not a gun.

I'd also take uk crime figures with a pinch of salt because simply being found in possession of a knife would add to the knife stats. Gun crime could include things like not storing your gun properly.

Sorry, there are more knife murders per capita in the US than the UK. I don't think many would be knife fights, as such, that would imply both sides having a knife and knowing they're about to fight. More likely someone grabbing a knife in the kitchen...

Knife murders are 40% in the UK, just 20% in the US, but there are so many more murders...

With knife crimes it’s also only a certain part of society and in major cities and areas around them. Apart from handguns and auto and semi auto rifles you can buy and own (with a licence) pretty much any rifle. We do not have people randomly shooting others from bridges, stadiums, shopping centres. We have loads of shotguns ditto those as well. I think everyone of my neighbours has shotguns, it’s just a thing in rural areas.

I mean Chicago alone is 10x worse than any place here so yeah. Makes sense. You could probably find a house somewhere in England that has gunshots in it if really trying to look for it, but in Chicago you don't need to try look for one there everywhere.

Yes, they can be as deadly as a gun within a certain distance (7 feet?). At least in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing. That said, running away from a gun is much more difficult.
