Russia uses way worse weapons than ordinary flamethrowers. Russia has a MLRS called TOS-1 that can fire both incendiary missiles and thermobaric missiles. The thermobaric missiles in particular are nasty business. They are essentially fuel-air bombs that can burn you at around 3000 degrees and create massive shockwaves that can rupture your lungs if they dont kill you outright. They are specifically designed to kill people inside tunnels, trenches and bunkers.

I just answered another question of yours like this. As a rule, flamethrowers are *limited in use* to attacks on bunkers, "pillboxes", caves, and other entrenched *but also enclosed* enemy positions (with limited ability of the enemy to shoot out or shoot back), because otherwise they just didn't have the range of rifles, and an enemy soldier in a trench, in a foxhole, or behind trees or rocks would just run away - or shoot the flamethrower trooper long before he could get close enough.
