Where does the fiction that republicans are better for the economy come from when the economy always does better under democrats?

Trending & News There is a classic rhetorical technique called the broken-record response that I see Republicans use routinely on numerous issues. It is where the same phrase or sentence is repeated over and over again in response to a certain question or inquiry. The up shot is that when people hear something a certain number of times, they begin to believe it is true, whether it actually is or not. How often do you hear it said that the economy is better. under Republican stewardship? Before I get jumped all over, I'm not commenting on whether it is true or false, I'm just commenting on a communications technique that I see a pattern of use by Republicans on the subject of the economy.
Republicans do benefit certain parts of the economy. Mainly those within specific tax brackets higher than 6 figures. Not so much for everyone else.
I had to vote the last option yet realistically - I'd like to guesstimate that the reason "the economy may do better under democrats or a left wing government" is because if you all really take a moment to think indifferently aka take biased away: giving everyone a slice of the pie, sure spreads the pie - no one hungry and more pie consumed and more craving for seconds - see that right there? I love you socialism in my native Australia here that I'm in - it's as left wing as it is so far with glorious Labor 🥳🎉🫠
I have noticed the same. The economic data is better under Democratic administrations, again and again. Yet that silly myth about the GOP continues. It’s the same with the Conservative Party in my country by the way, although the delta in the metrics is smaller.
Spreading the pie 🥧 is the bliss of left wingism mmmm 🥳 fruit pie 🥧

My grocery bill is real. Not "fiction" economy for voters not better under democrats.
But republicans want small government, therefore "republicans better for the economy".
not just measure stock market or f16 sales!
I know, anything that doesn't support democrars is "nonsense" even when true
Lol.
As far as I'm aware, there has never been a "Republican strategy" of giving all our money to "the rich" to magically uplift the "non-rich".
Also, the empirical evidence does not show that the economy responded better to Democrat policies than to Republican policies if you look more analytically.
Wow. I can't believe I really get to be someone's first time seeing the words "trickle down economics"
Trickle down economics is a strawman phrase repeated endlessly by economically ignorant people to describe economic logic that in fact never existed. As a relative expert in this matter, I will debate you endlessly on it if that's what you want.
Trickle down economics is literally what Reagan called his own economic model.
You are spreading misinformation. It was never articulated by Republicans.
It was originally coined by a vaudeville humorist to *criticize* Hoover's policies. Since then, it has always carried a negative connotation. And not without reason: it's an intuitively problematic imagery for anyone ("trickle down" to everyone else?) and, unsurprisingly, does not accurately describe economic reform during the 1980s.

Reagan spoke the words repeatedly during his administration. Don't tell me to doubt my lying eyes.
I was meeting with some cows recently and the cow pasture gave the answer.
It's all BS!!!
It's a two headed monster. That said, the economy is crap, has been for a while. Our standard of living is declining. The real question is, do we have good metrics for measuring the economy?
We have pretty good metrics and they all indicate that we are substantially better off than we were at any point during trump's presidency.
waste of time talking to anons... you could be a govt agent out here. Govt can manipulate measures... look at the recent job numbers they changed... out of thin air. debt up, costs doubled or more, salaries.. not so much. gold way up. inflation!
Wars all over.
not all one persons fault... but it ain't better by my book...
Salaries have been outpacing inflation for some time now. This I'd a matter of record. You just want trump back because you want to live like an dumb animal 🫠
I wanted someone else... but they lost. I'd take trump over kamala.
That is baloney on salaries/inflation... if you don't know that, I don't know what to say. If you believe the govt stats on inflation, I have some property 20miles off florida for you to buy.
Nope, it's a matter of record. You just don't like it because lying about it is your only way of getting christian nationalism.
my wifes salary hasn't gone up with inflation... the correct inflation. shadow stats has a more accurate number. Govt changed the formula for how it is calculated... they are managing the theft quite effectively. the only ones keeping up are the select few in productive jobs like AI coding, maybe unions (probably not), and execs that reward themselves well. Frankly, I'm hearing people get pink slips now. not easy to convince me salaries are going up faster than real inflation.
don't even get me started on social security... I know people receiving that and they cannot find a place to live on SS, it barely covers food.
but if people think it's great under Biden, then vote for Kamala. this is why when people complain online, I just laugh. stop complaining if you voted for it...
You do know that your one example has nothing to do with the nation as a whole, right.
what example? I'm giving examples.
sometimes I think people live in different realities... maybe they do. We are doing well, we did well under Trump and others. But I pay the bills here, I see the prices and I see the salaries. I see my social security at a fixed level in the future and inflation eroding what it can buy.
that's not all on biden... that's on out of control spending for decades... wars... etc. but biden didn't help and hurt in some ways, int hat regard. course I'm not talking about climate change... that's what he was going after... I should ocnsider that and not be so selfish.
Your wife's salary is one example. I didn't read the rest because you seem impervious to matters of record.
it's a tough sell because my insurance is up 40-100%, food seems double. only things not up are phone and internet. Gas is looking good, thanks to the election gas pricing. Condo insurance way up, taxes mostly way up, handyman... double, car service... lol... have you tried replacing yoru spark plugs or getting brakes done... lol... way up. housing way up. even with a good union, the raise is 3% a year.
and the budget deficit?
ain't no way kamala has a plan.. she doesn't even mention the debt, the dollar, or the deficit. some people behind her have their plans.
She has written out her plan for all to see. Over 400 leading economists have endorsed her plan. Saying she doesn't have one is willful ignorance.
Meanwhile trump actually does not have a plan.
It comes from the fact that every economy is inherited. Meaning that the growth a president experiences is mostly the product of the previous administration's actions.
That only applies for about two years then a current administration's policies fully kick in.
Kind of? Not really though. Economies typically don't just change the direction of momentum from the last administration.
Right, that's why we had to deal with record inflation at first but now it is finally coming down.
Under Republicans, the economy is better for Republicans. Just time - nobody else.
Here's a tip. If you don't want to come off as a totalitarian, maybe you shouldn't call everything you disagree with "misinformation." You sound like an entitled child who hates being told they're wrong.
It not "everything I disagree with" it is false information presented as fact.
You just presented the idea that Trump only favors the rich when he announces that he wants to abolish taxes on tips and overtime. That is the most pro-working class I have ever seen a politician get essentially before the blight of income tax has even emerged.
Taxing the rich will only forcefully transfer money from one rich person to another, neither of which give a rat's ass what you think of them.
Call that misinformation if you want but that isn't going to change the fact that Kamala Harris stole the tax on tips idea from Trump.
Was someone trying to change that fact? Adults who serve the people without being petty little bitches can acknowledge when their opponents have a good idea. That all or none bullshit is a right wing thing.
The left-wing propaganda says that republicans only care about the rich. Is that wrong? This definitely applies to the majority of republican politicians (or just politicians in general) but for the average republican, that is not the case. Seeing Trump advocate for things like the removal of taxes is why they like him so much.
These politicians might want more taxes from the rich (have fun getting through their lawyers) but in the end, the government is just going to do what the rich want anyway. Corporations are, by definition, state institutions (just ask the IRS). That's why the Biden administration hired a stadium's worth of new IRS agents, he does not need this many to go after a bunch of old coots swimming in their vaults. Going after the rich is too much trouble so that leaves their only option to the lower classes due to their lower likelihood to fight them in court, as they aren't going to spend a shit ton of money on a lawyer for an extra amount of tax that the government "forgot" to tack on from their previous tax day.
All you are doing by taxing the working class is just piss them off, especially if the taxes are going somewhere that is not going to benefit them in any way (90+% of what the government does by the way). Removing taxes on incentives for good behavior in the workplace is a great way to further incentivize them. If I remember correctly, the tax rate is higher for overtime work so yes, taxes on it couldn't be abolished soon enough.
Any evaluation of matters of record will show republicans passing legislation that exclusively benefits the wealthy for the last 4 decades. That you call matters if record "propaganda" just indicates you've been brainwashed by right wing culture war bullshit.
For the sake of argument let's say that you are correct, and you might be. How does giving rich people tax breaks harm anyone? So far the only complaints I see from the left is that they aren't contributing to the war machine and welfare state enough. These rich people will vote for war and will not change the fact that corporations are by definition a state institution.
So what does taxing or not taxing the rich really change?
Trump is the exception to this because his tax cuts have helped the middle class more than any other group. Biden and Harris are the exception to this because they are bent on destroying America any way that they can.
I'm talking about real life not whatever fantasy you are referencing.
There is no sense in asking. He wants christian nationalism and knows he has to lie to get it so he will now make up any story about abject poverty under Biden but a life of luxury under trump
@msc545 I am not the only middle class taxpayer.

You're siloed. You are just seeing the lib-commie side of things. Try perusing some more conservative sources if your brain can handle it.
I have. It is all a bunch of bluster with no information.
Then you really haven't. I can't help an incurious mind.
Do you understand the thing you just typed was all bluster and no information? Or have you been bouncing around in the right wing misinfotainment bubble for so long you can no longer tell the difference?
I voted for option B sarcastically. Lol
