What does Eric Adams and NYC going under mean for the rest of the US?

In a heartbreaking turn of events New York went down, we saw it with Detroit losing industry to Japanese companies in the 60s, we saw it with Baltimore, now it’s New York. It’s been in decline for years as Florida, California, and Texas, have beat New York in innovation since the pandemic. While firms are moving from New York to Miami as fast as possible NY still has a lot of finance. How will the country survive the downfall of New York without going under with it?

I don’t care about personal political beliefs, whether you were a fan of Eric Adams or not or just heard about him for the first time or whatever…. Criminal Charges like Wire Fraud, Conspiracy For Wire Fraud, Federal Bribery, and more are not acceptable. Americans deserve better than this garbage, in this specific terms New York City deserves better than this garbage. I do hope when his trial happens, justice comes. ⚖️🇺🇸

I don't have any feelings towards the guy, in either direction (this post was the first time I've heard his name, and I don't care about partisan BS), but do you have any consideration for the possibility that he's innocent? Or a scapegoat? Politicians are generally scum, I know, but the people going after him are also politicians, so it's hard for me to take a side or judge when I don't trust anyone involved.

From what I saw this is too serious too even try to brush off, he gave a press conference and retained his innocence which didn’t get my confidence up that he was a good intended being who wasn’t a part of a possible scandal. A lot of administrative workers in NYC resigned & were indicted leading up to this…

Thanks for the link to that. I skimmed it and there are definitely some damning allegations in there.

I think I just come from a place of presumed innocence and distrust in cops, so I can only take the claims with a grain of salt. Along with private individuals' claims. And scapegoats almost never go down alone.

But I promise you I'm not defending him. I have no reason to. I'm just hating on the ruling class and their history of abuse of our executive branch.

@BetaBucks Yeah I don’t think you are defending him. I actually looked deeper into it and he would fly to Istanbul then fly to India / China / Easter Island / other places totally free or discounted, staffer text messages “always have to stop at Istanbul” prove it. Even being featured in a film in Turkey playing a character called, “Mayor Of NYC Eric Adams”(himself obviously lol) and he was being bribed / helping out Turkey in that film… Opening up a building in NYC that was Turkey associated even when the building was not up to code & against fire safety standards… Like it is very fishy, also there’s messages that link Eric Adams to opening up that building when Turkey expected him to repay the favor since they bribed his campaign up to $10,000,000. That’s why I think she should resign and let the trial begin because if he is innocent, he should win easily since there would be no real evidence connecting him to these charges & offenses. Just too hard to believe he is innocent after the weight of what I saw & read & keep learning as this progresses.

It's not so much the greater united states of America will be hurt by Texas but how Texas is actively getting fucked over by being isolated and greater climate change in general.

At the same time we don't want our fellow neighbors actively sabotaging themselves so it's better we stand together.

Ah, I thought you meant a single point of failure for the US. Nevermind. Your original point is right though, the US is too big to have a single point of failure. Plenty of our cities collapse to shit and everything goes on like normal. That sucks if TX is hurting themselves though.

Texas has done well with energy, and tech. What has NY done well on in the last 5 years?

Texas grid is Not great at emergencies. It impossible to get outside help. Majority of our infrastructure is made for 1000 year storms but we are getting those every other decade now so we don't have the means to rebuild and maintain our infrastructure.

For new york So long as water travel from Atlantic to the great lakes into the Mississippi and out the gulf of Mexico travel is safe new york is going to be fine.

If not every one from the gulf of Mexico to Northern Atlantic and every state connecting the Mississippi River will throw as much money to new york to make it better.

California is in much better shape, outside of maybe Stockton, and Oakland. Silicon Valley leads in tech.
