Treated poorly meaning talked bad about, getting talked to in a condescending manner, people getting an attitude with them for no particular reason, not getting thank you's when they do stuff for others, so on and so on

There are several reasons why some people might be treated poorly, even when they consistently treat others with respect. Sometimes, individuals who are kind and respectful might be perceived as overly passive or vulnerable. Unfortunately, some people take advantage of those they see as “too nice,” mistaking respectfulness for weakness.
Social dynamics also play a role. In certain group settings, individuals may be mistreated simply because they don’t fit in with the dominant culture or values, leading to exclusion or ostracism. This can happen due to differences in personality, appearance, or interests.
Jealousy or insecurity can also drive negative behavior. People who are respectful and kind might evoke feelings of envy in others, particularly if they are successful or possess qualities others wish they had. As a result, they may be treated poorly as others attempt to undermine or belittle them.
Additionally, some people project their own internal struggles onto others. Those dealing with anger, frustration, or self-doubt may lash out, regardless of how respectfully they are treated. In these cases, the mistreatment reflects the person’s inner turmoil rather than the behavior of the one being disrespected.
Respect is not always reciprocated because not everyone values or practices it. In environments where power dynamics or selfishness dominate, respectful individuals may be overlooked or mistreated. At times, respectful behavior is misinterpreted, leading others to make negative assumptions about the person’s intentions, which can also lead to unfair treatment.
Ultimately, when people are treated poorly despite being kind and respectful, it often says more about the insecurities or issues of those doing the mistreating than it does about the person being mistreated.
