The obligation to pay child support, and the determination of the amount, are determined by state law, not federal law. Unless Harris tried to exceed her authority (which wouldn't be a surprise,) she would not have the authority to change the law in this area.

She thinks she has the authority to reverse roe v wade. If she were to be elected and were to succeed in doing so who is to say she wouldn't change child support laws from state to federal? I mean democrats today are all about big government controlling everything.

@msc545 Child support is a form of family support you make if your not giving the full family support of marriage. It is a very poor substitute, and it like custody does not belong to the parents who is responsible for there not being a marriage.

About 90% of the time women are responsible for there not being a marriage since 90% of the time they are the ones who file for divorce. If a woman gets pregnant outside of marriage and decides to keep the child, that is her problem and she should pay for it, not the man.

I think she would do it. Seems a lot of women divorce in the us because they get child support and alimony. I get what it's for but seems like having your cake and eating it too.
