In the United States, Democrats are sending out postcards (as pictured) to people in swing states, encouraging them to vote.

What do you think about this?

I think as a black person and a Democrat that I find that post card very cringe. They showcase Michelle on it and then have to use the words "a party at the polls." That feels like a lowkey way of trying to bring black folk out, since we are often viewed as loving to party and love to whoop and holler. Like they're trying to play on black feelings or get us excited. So utterly disgusting.

This is one of the reasons why the Democratic party is failing. We keep trying to use women and black people as representation when it just ends up looking like workplace standards for "diversity and inclusion," more than actually trying to deal with serious issues. Do I believe we should be seen and heard and respected? Yes. Do I believe the Democratic party is more compassionate? Yes. But I also care about illegal immigration flooding the U. S. - with Chinese being the no.1 entering the country right now - and I also think there needs to be firmness on matters too.

@RageBabe You are right, we are not monolithic. But black folk do deserve some respect and acknowledgment since we've been through a lot of shit in the U. S. Hell, Asian people have a bill made for them that is supposed to protect them from hate violence. We don't. However, simply being black is not enough to make a difference and shouldn't be used as a banner in place of inaction.

I agree 100%. Blacks have been in America since America was even a thing and deserve the same respect and acknowledgement as anyone else. I’m not sure why everyone else gets a bill to protect them. If any group gets hate violence it’s black people and a bill needs to be made ASAP. Without black people it wouldn’t be America they literally built it with labour and have continued a lot and yet don’t get the acknowledgment.

@paledreams Interestingly, US courts have ruled that passing out water and food to people waiting in line to vote is illegal, it's considered electioneering, a form of campaigning, that could sway a person's vote. That's an extension to the law that prevents campaigning in any way, including political signs, within 200 feet of a polling place.

It's a bit weirdly done, but I get what they're trying to do.

The swing states will determine the election, unfortunately. Trump will lose the popular vote once again. Every sane person who wants to keep democracy alive in the USA needs to get out and VOTE out every fascist Republican you can, no matter your party affiliation. Red states especially keep voting in the same regressive people and wonder why they are the poorest, least educated, most "freedom repressed" states, all the while gaslighting the other party.

I am not a Trump supporter. If you've been reading any of my posts, you'll know that I repeatedly say I don't like either candidate, and may not vote. That's exactly why I posted...
